What winter wheels are you using?

Snow tires seem pretty expensive to put on the 18'' Ralliart stockers. Is there a more cost effective setup? If so, what wheels are you using in the winter?

Mazda3 OEM 17" rims is what I'm using. The most cost efficient way is just 16" Steelies which I had for a few months, but hated the look

Dodge OEM Intrepid 16" wheels, wrapped in Blizzak WS60s (205/60 R16). I believe it was around $500total for my winter setup.

I found a set of 16" steel wheels with Blizzaks with only 3000 miles on craigslist for $275. Winter tires are soooooooo much cheaper for 16" wheels. It's a personal choice though. If you are cheap like me and don't mind the look of steel, then I would go that route. But if you know that you can't stand that look, then try to find some used 16" or 17" wheels that fit.

TOralliart, you go up to Tahoe or something? It would make sense you running winter tires if your going up there, but in the bay area, not so much. haha. Lucky. I lived in L.A. for 21 years, never had to use winter tires...ever, now that i am in RI, gonna have to break my streak.

^ Nice knowing you Mike. Seriously the stock Dunlops are one of the worst rated all-seasons in the snow, just check tire rack. I had my stock dunlops on for the 1st snow the 1st year I had my GTS and they were SCARY! I bet my Hankook V12's would be better in the snow (not gonna try though). With Winnipeg winters I wouldn't take a chance personally.

Since I havent really been through a winter in this car, I am wondering if I would be alright just running the goodyear eagle gt all seasons I have all winter? Not really sure how bad the snow is around here, but have any of you guys up in Canada ran a set of good all seasons through a winter up there, specifically eagle gt's?

Haha. Yes I do go to Tahoe. I try to chase the storms for the good snow. AWD with snow tires is AMAZING.

Man I am so jealous. When I lived in L.A. I would go to Tahoe all the time. Snowboard all day and then hit up the casinos. Good times and better powder. Your lucky man. The drive up that mountain must be fun with awd and snow tires. Last time I did that drive was in a rear wheel drive pickup with 450hp and no chains...bad idea.
