Newtonian Physics, a complete mystery to some.

To the OP, good score on the winter setup

I think Smike ended it, so no need to worry... The result was the topic going to wheels/suspension tho

LMAO

I used to have those wheels in white. I love how the spokes look! 16s do look a little small for our car but for the price that cant be beat!

Iirc 215/40r18 hankook i pikes are 125$ CAD. I will be switching after a few winters with the stock a/s dunlops. They have served me well and its -20 at night here. The tires cant get much harder than this.

I still don't see the profile making a difference in snowy conditions. The profile is not the the contact patch. The contact patch is the important part of the tire. The wrinkle tire (drag tire) is designed to wrinkle. The snow tire does not wrinkle as far as I know.

When I said 16" and winter performance, I was referring more to the fact that the extra sidewall will ride better over choppy ice/snow, be able to withstand pothole hits, curb hits, and the general hazards of winter driving and the roads associated with it.

I know when I'm "sliding out of control", I would be far less angry about putting a cheap snow tire and used Talon wheel into a curb than an expensive 18" tire and wheel. Not to mention the fact that the sidewall contact is far less likely to transfer the force of the impact into the suspension and cause damage to the car than a wheel hit.

OK. This makes much more sense to me. Thank you for your clarification.

I hit it here:

But its a slight change. Bigger reason is what Eric points out.
