Hence the wait time. I will have them up and running in my car before they go out. I will also start a new thread containing bench testing results.

labor cost for replacing clutches was quoted to me by dynocomp in arizona at 2000 for labor.

but i got lucky and had my engine blow and had to be taken out anyway so my other tuner is only gonna charge me for time it takes to replace them which is 89 an hour and about 3 hours or so

Going back on topic. I finally installed my C6 Z06 Calipers and X GSR rotors. I powdercoated my calipers a Cherry Red color. The pictures don't do them justice though.

Yee har, that's insanely huge.

With the NFS "small" brackets, I guess I'm faced with the choice between:
  • C5 Calipers.
  • C6 Calipers.
  • Z06 Calipers.
Quality: The C6 sound like they are better quality than C5. Z06 would be top-knotch.

Brand: I'd rather have no raised CORVETTE logo... so probably Kore3.

Availability: C6 are currently not in stock at Kore3.

Rotor size: C5/C6 rotor selection is 320mm x 32mm. Z06 is 350mm x 32mm.

On paper, the Z06 looks perfect... but I'm a little concerned about unbalancing the front/rear braking balance.

I also don't want to carry more unsprung weight than I really need. I doubt I'll heat 320mm rotors past the limit of my favourite pads (Pagid). Those X rotors must weigh a heap more than the original RA 294mm x 24mm.

So I guess I'll exercise some patience, and wait for a set of C6 to make themselves available. I hate needing patience.

Rich

If going for C6, I could always source GM-originals, then see if I can remove the CORVETTE logo.

Rich, your long brackets will only work with C5/C6 base calipers and Evo X front rotors.

Original order was this...

Part Number (#)DescriptionQuantity
LRS001Long Caliper Bracket Set0
LRS002Short Caliper Bracket Set1

I just measureed the brackets, from inner hole to outer hole (centre to centre). They are roughly 30mm.

Just let me know which ones I actually have.

Rich

For some reason I thought that you had the large ones. You have the small ones, it appears. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh, what the hell. I'm going for a Z06 caliper + Evo X rotor!

If I get front/rear bias issues, I'll deal with it. Ditto for overworked front spring+damper action with the extra weight.

This is so much more fun than being "sensible" - go big or go home!

NFS, please don't abandon this project for good. I desperately want a (small) kit for my Sportback.

PS, if you have any small kits left, and they are to spec, I'll buy it today.

Unfortunately, I ditched all the brackets from that last batch. The tolerances were all over the place. The bolts were too long and too short...ugh...what a mess!

However, I handed over the designs and prototypes to the new engineer/fabricator today (like an hour ago). He is the one who made the insane Z06 brake kit a reality. If he can do that, I trust him to make the brackets. He busts his butt to get everything done perfectly. He has some dog-boning to do (removing excess material from the brackets). He is also going to start producing spacers. After that, we should be good to go. This is a much better situation, because I have full control of each and every part. There is no middle man. I bought the taps, myself. As soon as I get done with a few other things that I am working on, I will launch the website and continue to make these parts. Never fear. The kit(s) will be back, shortly.

+1
NFS Please let me know when the small kit is available again. =D
Are you still planning to make the small kit for the rears as well or would this only be for the fronts?
