Er.. I don't have that kinda scratch. I mean, yesterday, I bought a chicken sandwich and skipped the mayo because it was 25 cents extra. It was so dry I took the extra mayo from a coworkers sandwich...

I really don't need some kinda high temp race pad. It's my weekend car, I take the subway to work normally. Then every weekend, I take it on a 3-800 mile round trip (mostly highway) upstate to go hiking or snowboarding.

Plus, don't most of the "high performance" braking products stop like sh*t until they warm up? Probably not good when it's 5 degrees F out and I'm approaching the bottom of a hill...

Semi-Metallic Pads and Premium rotors are the ticket. That is what these cars come with from the factory.

The Axxis ULT had the best cold weather bite of all the pads I've tried and they were very linear, meaning cold or hot they felt pretty much the same. Drove them through winter in Colorado, Arkansas, and Texas and always felt good. Put them on with SS brake lines when I bought the car. They got ruined in an oil slick, and I had the Stoptechs on hand. I'll go back to Axxis ULT when I burn these off. They do dust, similar to Hawks.
My Hawks were grabby when cold, but wouldn't fade. EBC greens faded when hot.

NFS- a drunk total your RA?

Sorry to hear about the accident, but congrats on the X. I'm actually close to trading my RA for an X, but there's a few things I don't like about the X in question (too many little scratches and dents). This is, however, a story for a different thread.

To the O.P., I was searching for the differences in price between OEM brake components and aftermarket, and (at least where I live), Hawk pads and Centric or EBC rotors are very close in price to the OEM equipment. If I end up keeping the RA, that's what I'll be upgrading to.

TBH, if I hadn't already purchased 16" steelies for winter, I'd actually be looking into NFSLancerRA's upgrade.

ifv you are on a tight budget, the best thing you can do is upgrade the pads. especially the front. Im confident in saying that almost everyone will tell you to upgrade the front and back at the same time. for around a hundred bucks, you can get a set of ebc, HPS, centric.... im sure im forgetting some decent brands.

the biggest consideration is the material the pads are made up of. for a DD go with semi-metallic. they do not require any warm up

Was gonna wait a bit to change out the pads but might not make it through the winter. Might as well change now while it's warm.

I decided to skip the autozone pads. Apparently (so I've heard...) the stock pads on the standard lancers are made by akebono? But not the ralliart (hitachi?). Placed an order on tirerack for a set of akebono street performance's (ASP530) for the front and proact's for the rear (ACT868).

I looked up some reviews and I've heard nothing but good things about them online but nothing here. Has anyone here had experience with these? They seem pretty nice and the price is right.
