Who has the best Drop in Filter?
Well, if you look where the HKS boost is higher, the power numbers are still lower, like around 3800.
And then, at least on spring actuated wastegates rather than electronic solenoids, you will see boost go higher with less inlet or exhaust restriction.
Just saying. Either way, the numbers are close. Need more dynos to verify anything, but Drop ins are not a common shootout item.

also, on the topic of drop-in filters, sort of, anybody found a hard pipe to replace the rubber piece that runs from the air box to the turbo inlet yet? just to smooth out the airflow a bit and give a little more engine growl for those of us without cone filters. plus it would help the recirc. whoosh sound, so theres some incentive for those of you who like that kind of thing.
i've searched the forums and google and only came up with the ones for the evo 8/9 and im pretty sure theyre not gonna work even with some modification. i'll keep my eyes open and keep looking but any help would be great
edit: buschur makes a "mass air pipe" for the x but it would take some work to get it right for us. cobb and perrin have silicon hose kits that im not too fond of anyways. also nisei has a turbo inlet pipe for the x that looks beautiful matched with their uicp but still no love for the RA group, wtf? ...i'll keep looking

Got my HKS installed yesterday, turbo and BRV are MUCH MUCH louder, I can now hear that I actually have a turbo car
.
Whether or not I can tell a difference performance wise, probably not but it is worth it enough to hear the turbo breath a bit.

A little off topic but I ordered the HKS BOV with recirc fittings. Wonder how that will sound since it's already loud with only changing out the filter
With the HKS Drop-In I haven't seen any improvement in gas mileage.
If there is an improvement is probably below 1 MPG range.
I'm using a fuel log to get an accurate record of MPG. Averaging 17 with city driving and 24 for highway.
I may go back to the
OEM filter to get some new numbers since there has been a number of recall work and tire changes since the HKS Drop-In was installed.

+1 for the HKS. Just got mine today and installed it. making triple sure it was seated in there correctly.
impressions. throttle seems peppy. and i can actually here that i have a turbo on my car now.

If you guys seen/remember Import Tuner magazine did a write up where they put a DC Sports single canister exhaust on a Ralliart. They used a K&N filter which is probably one of the most researched filters out there. Some good gains were made here is some info in regards to the K&N.
Pros
The K&N panel air filter is designed with a filter cage to create a tight seal within the factory airbox while its design enables increased airflow for added horsepower. All K&N air filters are washable and reusable and backed by the famous K&N million-mile limited warranty. The simplicity of the panel filter's design makes it an easy performance add-on for Ralliart owners.
Cons
While the panel filter is an ideal add-on for mildly modified vehicles like our Ralliart, we foresee the filter's cfm flow capacity limited on higher-horsepower vehicles, like ones approaching 300+ wheel horsepower.
Notes The new filter delivered impressive hp and torque across the board, with a gain of 8.1 hp and 5.2 lb-ft of torque at peak performance. The dyno also recorded impressive top-end gains of 8 hp and 7 lb-ft of torque at 5,900 rpm.
