EVERY aftermarket intake that requires a tune changes the diameter of the MAF housing, typically if not always, increasing it. Since the ecu is not aware of this physical change, the volume of air that is entering the engine is not correctly metered, and hence, requires a tune to compensate for this increased air volume that the MAF is not reporting. The DIY SRI utilizes the EVO X MAF housing, which is very very close to the same diameter of the stock RA MAF housing. So close in fact, that, as zx-319 stated, AFR's remain in safe values.

...and I don't know of anyone stating the UR intake does not require a tune anymore. The only ones that stated that were referencing UR's website, that at one time, said no tune was required. UR has now corrected this on their website.

I find it odd that this argument keeps coming up. If everyone would take the time to realize why the tune is required with aftermarket intakes, they would understand why there are those that running the DIY SRI without any issues...and that's why were here right, to learn more about what we are doing...well that, and talking trash cause no one can hit me through my computer

I was just on UR's website last night. It still shows the intake does not require a tune?

It appears you are correct I wonder if they changed the design, or are just being ignorant to the issue. Sorry for thread jacking Bryan.

I have gotten it twice this winter. Both times it was the P050B. Its not a big deal, just clear it.

So you can do it without worrying.
Does it read "safe values" at WOT?

It reads a little above 11 when under reasonable boost. And can go in mid-9 under heavy load...

This is what I call safe...

Sounds like a XML issue, not a ROM issue.

Exactly what error msg are you getting?

well it wasnt reading the map so i had to go into developer mode and i chose to inherit and also to copy and its bringing up the ROM but not showing me any tables or anything. But when I pull up the 09 ra boost pill + tune maps it is showing all the tables on the left hand side....on my stock one it shows no tables

Yup that is an XML problem, incorrect or missing.

What ROM ID are you trying to open?
