The GST boostpill tune (AUDM 93oct V2) is running beautifully. I finally got a quick VirtualDyno run in to compare it to the factory tune. Attached.

The run itself started a good 750rpm later than the "factory tune" comparison run, and that certainly shows in the early part of the boost curve. This makes the graph a little subdued at the low end. This isn't an accurate representation of things - but I'm not going out at this late hour to try again! :P

Interestingly, there's less detonation with this basemap than with the "stock pill" equivalent. Bryan, if you dumped extra fuel in to increase the margin of safety, it's working. Perhaps the stock pill "93oct" map was a little closer to the edge - I felt obliged to pull a degree of timing here and there while I was running that map. I did note that Tephra equated our Aussie 98RON fuel with "92.5 octane" in US-speak, so maybe that explains it. The "boost pill" map isn't showing any tendency to knock on our Aussie fuel.

2010 ROMs not working!!

Has anyone been having troubles with the 2010 ROMs? I downloaded them fine but when I try to open the file in ECUFlash it gives me an error "UNKNOWN ROM IMAGE", however the 2009 ROMs work fine! Any thoughts??

cheers,
Andre

You most likely need a 2010 XML file.... This is one thing that's a pain with tuning stock ECU is all the XMLs etc. If this turns out to be the issue for you i have a XML file i can send to you for the 2010 RA. Just LMK.

It is because you are missing the XML file to go with it. You can find it on the net. If you are not sure, drop me a PM with your ECU ID. I should have it here.

I read the ECU and it still gives me the same error when i try to open the saved stock ROM. So i chose "create new deff." and selected copied from... I left all the info as is in the menus and this is what i came up with:
ID#: 55590007

Does this look right?

Thanks again,
noob

I'm having the exact same problem. The 2009 file will load just fine but the 2010 file gives me the same error. Did you find the cure?

Like it says above... you probably dont have the appropriate XML file! Check out this thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ortback-3.html

Here you cn download the XML for ID#: 55590006. And if you have the 55590007, Brian posted what you should do. If you have any questions you can PM me and ill do my best to help out.

Cheers,
Andre

Hi Bryan.

I got the chance to check my AFRs on a dyno (DynaPack) the other day, running the GST 93oct BoostPill map. Ratios were good across the board.

We did a couple of typical WOT pulls, and I've got a question regarding the boost levels observed.

On the road, boost is logged as rising quickly to about 1.6 Bar (or thereabouts), holding steady, then tapering in neat steps to redline. I think I posted a Virtual Dyno image a little bit earlier in this thread.

On the dyno, however, boost rose to the expected level by 3150rpm, but then dropped off to 1.43 Bar by 3650rpm. Boost then built slowly back up, hitting its previous peak again at 4900rpm before tapering to 1.35 Bar at 6000rpm.

Pretty different to on-road logging, that's for sure.

I've attached a simple EvoScan "vs. RPM" graph of (1-byte) Load and Boost, showing the general pattern.

Things to note:
  • Car still uses the stock (puny) intercooler.
  • Manifold Air Temp was 60 deg C at start of pull, dropping to 53 at end.
  • Intake Air Temp (if my logging address is right) started at 42 deg C, dropping to 36 at end. Welcome to Australia in late spring!!
Is this kind of behaviour the reason why you've moved some of your other maps to "PSIG target" boost control? However that's done - I have no clue (yet)...

I'm keen to understand more about this, even if it's just one of those "dyno world differs from real world" situations.

If you can shed some light on this, please let me know.

Cheers,

Rich

edit: For some reason, the scaling on that EvoScan "vs. RPM" is rubbish. Here's a chunk of raw RPM & Boost logging data...

Brian can you make the 93 oct ver 2 basemap with a better throttle response from a dead stop. Mine seems sluggish.

That's a standard Ralliart/SST "feature" (ie. problem). I'd go so far as to call it a risk factor, if you intend to cross or enter brisk traffic. There's a risk of being t-boned if you try to drive it from a dead stop like an automatic (or, indeed, like a manual).

I actually joined this forum looking for a "cure". Haven't found one yet, but I'm learning a lot about the vehicle, and keeping close tabs on those clever individuals likely to make progress in this area!
