Blowing Off Twice

It is normal to have the blow off value blow off twice when getting off the throttle aound the time the transmission shifts into the next gear? It seems it blows off in the first gear and then it shifts into the next gear and blows off again. I have a hks ssqv blow off value on it and its vented.

Curious how you managed to install an aftermarket bov and not know what it does?

By the way, it's fine. It's suppose to blow off when you release the pedal

I didnt install the bov I bought the car with it on it already on it, but I have installed them before on other cars. I know its supposed to blow off when u get off the throttle but my question is it seems to blow off twice when its about to shift when I get off the throttle. I was thinking it was doing this because it was inbetween gears in the sst transmission and blows off once in the one gear shifts and blows off again in the next. I was just curious if it was normal.

My question is why are you letting off the throttle to shift? If you are releasing boost at every shift, you are missing the beauty of the SST.

From what it sounds like, the blow-off that happens during shift is occuring normally (only a fraction of the total pressure in the system), but then simultaneously you are completely letting off the throttle, so now it is ALSO releasing all built up pressure???

That makes the most sense to me from what it sounds like when it does it.

yes lol if you gas it then let off the throttle all that built up pressure has to go somewhere and it vents the air out, so lets say you are going thru the gears and you just switched 4th to 5th and it blew off in between then you stop throttling and let off the pedal all together it has to do something with all the pressure you have built so you will hear it vent again. But again you should not be venting whatsoever anyways in a ralliart as it is a full recirculation car and the ecu does not understand that it has lost air when you vent

Thats what Ive read about venting the bov I bought the car 3 weeks ago and it was like that when I bought it. Im gonna look into getting the dealership to change it since I have a warranty that includes whats on it and if its going to hurt it I dont see why they wouldnt.

No and no. That's a stutter, hop on YouTube look up Synapse bov. They explain what causes it etc. If I remember correctly its due to a piston type bov that's spring needs adjustment. It is something you want to fix.
