another one for normal here.. mine makes the same noise lol

 

I am having that same noise from the engine of my 2011 MR with only 3200 miles . However, it sounds like it is coming from the left side of the engine close to the throttle body ( in that general area).
I would like to know also if this is normal, noticed it a few days.
Please keep me informed.

Post your 4B11 engine failures that occurred as a direct result of you ignoring one of its thirty-three rattling noises


When cold or just driven lightly around town, my car sounds like it has one of more of the following:

• The wrong oil in the engine.
• No oil in the engine.
• No oil in the diffs.
• Manually adjusted tappets in dire need of adjustment.
• Tappets from a tractor engine.
• An old Kingswood clutch (that one's for the aussies).

All of this cacophony disappears once it's warmed up and driven hard.


Jah E, if you're still under 4000 miles in your MR, the best way to allay your concerns is simply to discuss with your dealer/service center at its next posted maint dropoff. Unless you've modded the $#*!!# out of it already!

They'll listen to it, undoubtedly tell you it's normal, and you'll have peace of mind.
