CBRD RAD lite VS EVO X swap

this was posted in another thread- and I thought I'd throw up some more info-

there is alot of talk about whether to use our little RAD lite upgrade or do a total X swap (turbo/manifold/downpipe/intake/etc)...

We built the RAD lite as an alternative for someone that doesnt want to source all those parts to do the swap right- because as you know- we won't do things halfway-- so it's pricey to do the swap the right way--

The RAD was intended to match the evo X turbo in performance on pump gas levels and have excellent spool, still looking RA stock

So here is a comparison:

1.) CBRD RAD lite, CBRD FMIC and Ic pipes, CBRD 3" intake and stock downpipe etc

2.) EVO X swap, AMS Downpipe, EVO X FMIC, AMS pipes, CBRD 3" Intake, stock catback etc.

The RAD LITE was at slightly less boost on a warmer day--- not a huge difference though..

here is the chart...

you can see it does as advertised.... nothing AMAZING... but just what we said--- evo X power on a nice setup... and slightly quicker spool...

also consider if the temps were equal, the RAD would spool even slightly quicker---

hope this helps---

The evo X swap works excellent- we simply offer an alternative.

Cheers

CB

i asked on the other thread, but i'll ask here since it seems you would like to have this separate?

The RAD plot is the solid lines, correct?

Looks like it has a much fatter torque curve...

Yeah the RAD is the solid lines. Looks to be more efficient (lower boost with more torque). Image that with a ported ex mani, 3" dp and HFC; and to get really nuts some S1 cams. Looks like it would be an absolute terror around town

I love the idea of the RAD turbo! The more I read about it, the more it seams like its what I want. I can upgrade, max out, and get everything ready for the RAD turbo. Sounds like Fun! After reading a few forums. I really want the CBRD FMIC, Intake and RAD. You guys have great reviews and can't wait to start working with you!

Rad is not a bad idea, especially if you don't want to worry about that '350tq' limit. And if that is truely the limit, or close to it. I wouldn't want my car operating so close to that when I want to punch it.

Dyno graphs are nice, but I would really like to feel the difference of the rad vs TD05. I think someone made this point, just not sure who.

I wonder if NSF can comment since he had the RAD and now has the GSR.

If your willing to pay 2K for the clutch upgrade then u can do more than 350tq but I would say don't do any more just to be safe as not people have gad issues when they did! Better to be safe then sorry

I am staying out of this one. I liked the RAD. I will leave it at that. If I do end up upgrading turbos on the GSR, I will definitely be considering going with a BBX-lite or full (after I build the motor and what-not). I am a big proponent of CBRD products. Everything was beautifully made. The intercooler was outstandingly good. I hope that JCusco is putting it to good use.

Chad, do you have plans to upgrade the BBX-lite to BB? It seems that that is the way of things. I may have asked this question before, which I apologize for, as my memory is about as robust as a well-fed goldfish.
