This is my attempt to help correct a lot of the misinformation I have seen posted and educate everyone of the MUT-III tool package. Anything I have missed or you have questions on please ask so i can clarify or add it to the FAQ.

What is a MUT-III?
The MUT-III is a tool package containing a variety of pieces including a V.C.I. (Vehicle Communication Interface), a laptop (Panasonic ToughBook), MUT-III Software, a CF card, and various cables, adapters. You can view a full list of the parts included in the package here.

What cant the MUT-III do?
The MUT-III package can preform a variety of functions including rewriting the vehicles ECU, rewriting the vehicles TCM, reading diagnosis codes, and clearing diagnosis codes.

What does MUT stand for?
Multi-Use-Tester.

Where can I buy a MUT-III?
You can find MUT-III packages on eBay, or direct from SPX, the official supplier. Their number is 1-888-727-6672. Another option is sites like Alibaba and others of that nature.

How much does a MUT-III cost?
Direct from SPX the MUT-III package is approximately $8,000 USD. However it can be found much cheaper from other sources.

Can I rent a MUT-III?
Yes. For details and pricing call SPX at 1-888-727-6672. They will advise you of the rental fee, security deposit, and shipping charge required for a two-week rental period.

Is it true I can unlock Super Sport Mode and Launch Control with a MUT-III?
Yes. There are instructions here.

I read I can download a MUT-III online. Is that true? Where?
There are various sources to obtain the MUT-III SOFTWARE online. However doing so through a torrent or FTP site is software considered piracy and illegal.

Furthermore without the V.C.I. and related cables, the software is essentially useless.

^werd. MOD East Coast? Puhpuhuh PLease?

Also, does the MUT overwritte the GST basemap? I would only want to raise the RPM 'floor' that 'normal/auto' uses (get it 2K RPMs instead of letting it drop to <700 [rolls eyes]).

Could it also auto 'unlock all doors' (vice only front/driver)?

Are there anyone out there that have a MUT-3 unit planning to bring it to MOD East this October, and set up something like a TCU Flashing area for RA's?

You can actually do it with the fob, don't remember the actual procedure, but you use a combination of the lock/unlock buttons... It's definitely in the manual, at least that's where I found it...

Does anyone know what the difference is between the "coding" and "non-coding" MUT-3 units? I'm looking to purchase one via eBay and some sellers have the two versions and that if you need programming ability you need the "coding" one.
