Oh yeah, and from an ECU perspective, heaps of engine management stuff depends on measured intake air temp... which occurs at the MAF housing, before the turbo.

The "Load" used for fuel map lookup is adjusted based on IAT.

Timing is retarded 1 degrees when IAT is around 47C, 2 degrees @ 58C and 3 degrees @ 85C.

RAX Patch adds boost control tweaks for IAT-based adjustment of WGDC. The higher the measured intake air temp, the less boost you'll get.

Does anyone have the AEM cold air intake? It looks like it replaces the stock air box, so I'd assume hyrdolock would not be an issue. But would installing it require a tune? Would I run into any issues with the "check engine" light or ECU, as the MAF sensor and stock wiring harness appear to be integrated with the install?

yep, i've the aem intake - it is a nice bit of kit with the filter etc all enclosed and haven't had any issues with water ingress. improved the flow and looks good in the engine bay. re the tune, if you bolt it on without out a tune, it will lean out your car, so would advise a tune once installed

Thanks, but could you please clarify what "lean out my car" would result in?

Very likely it would kaboom your motor if leaned out too much....too much air, not enough fuel.

I got the injen CAI that goes behind the trans cooler but I want to upgraded my turbo to an evo turbo and a bigger intercooler. Will my CAI and my intercooler piping still be compatible?
