TC-SST disengaged completely

I was launching my ralliart the other day and the RPM's jumped way too high and the transmission went into limp mode. Only thing this time was the transmission completely disengaged and didnt engage again until i shut the car off and turned it on again. Has anyone else experienced this extreme limp mode? It was a good 2 minutes of having the car at a stand-still and trying both neutral & park before i turned the car off quickly. I've had it go into slow-down mode before, but nothing ever like this

Car wasn't happy. Try and be nicer next time

Maybe go for the S-Sport/Launch Control flash to make it safer.

Unfortunately I own an '09 which isnt too friendly to the changing of TCU programming. I was just rather confused. Usually every time the car went into slowdown mode it would go away after 5 seconds or so. Guess this is what i get for trying to scare geese

How were you launching? Pressing brake and slating gas doesn't work. Gotta use the tap tap. I had this happen and it's SST fluid overheat and the clutches let go to let things cool off

Agreed.

Several have mentioned issues with LC and the Evo X TCU flash.

I'm using the TCU flash on my 2009 RA and I've had slowdown at the drags and on a mountain. If you drive hard enough the temps in the trans will rise to a point when you will not be able to engage any gears and just slow to a halt. I had to wait 15 minutes in a car park before I could drive again.

I think there is a bit of a safety margin before any real damage is done, but it's not a good thing to happen.
I had my SST fluid changed since these 2 incidents. I also fitted a fan behind the trans cooler, Also I noticed my trans cooler has dried mud and crap in the core, so cleaning that helps a lot.

never had the slow down after the MR flash. Then again I have the AMS transmission cooler and I am sure that helps with that.

I have a 2009 as well and my tranny works great!

Alright, that was my real worry, i didnt know if anyone ever experienced times of limp mode longer than usual

Gonna be my Christmas present to myself

i had something similar happen once. I was sitting at a stop light on an incline letting the "idle creep" hold the car in place on the hill. When the light turned, i hit the gas and it just free rev'ed on me. It happened 3 or 4 times. Then i popped it into neutral for a few seconds and back into drive and it started grabbing after a couple of more seconds.

After that happened, I double checked my recent maintenance documentation and found my dealership charged me labor on a transmission fluid change, but not for the fluid. So, i went back and demanded they change the fluid. Ever since the fluid was changed, i haven't had any problems with my transmission pulling stunts like that on me.

Ya i tried to launch mine at the track and apparently held the brake and the gas for too long and the same thing happened to me, must have something that shuts off if u hold it for a certain period of time

I've had this happen. Just let the car rest a bit, it'll be fine. At least mine has been the last 20,000 miles since it last happened.
