Bluetooth Capability... or not!
Bluetooth Capability... or not!
So after looking through the owners manual (thicker than the bible) and figuring out how to setup my phone it doesn't work. So I looked on the Mitsubishi Canada website and it says the steering switch for Bluetooth capability is standard, but to have the actual capability this "requires dealer installation of V/R microphone and Bluetooth™ HFP system". What the F is that? They're just teasing me.
Is there anyway to active this without involving the dealership? Or should I just get the bluetooth unit for my aftermarket Nav system when I install it?
Thanks.

That's really strange that you have the switch but not the module. I would check to see if you have the module installed. There is a how-to on installing the module here, so you can use that to see if you have the module installed. The microphone is in the lights above the rear-view mirror.
If you're planning on aftermarket system, I would just wait and get a Nav system with Bluetooth on it. I think getting an aftermarket system would bypass the factory bluetooth anyways.

Bluetooth for the Ralliart is part of the premium package in Canada. If you didn't go Premium, then you need to either procure the module and microphone (Canadian R/A don't have the microphone pre-installed, I know for a fact...I had to buy it...) and follow the how-to TOralliart mentionned, or buy it and have it installed at your dealership.
If you do have the Premium package, then you need to pair your phone in the SETUP voice menu, the next steps kinda depends on your phone. For me, I activate the "Find me" bluetooth feature and then I can see the car's system on my phone available devices to connect to, and so on...
However, like EvoOtto mentioned, if you don't hear a lady saying "Handsfree system ready"-or something when you press the steering control, take it to your dealer, something's f*cked...
Cheers,

Just curious but you're saying Mitsubishi included the Bluetooth steering wheel buttons but not the module and microphone? So you have buttons on the steering wheel that do absolutely nothing?
That is correct.
This is what they call "Pre-wired for bluetooth" or "Bluetooth capability" or something like that.
Even if you purchase the bluetooth module kit (microphone + module that goes behind the glove box) and install it yourself, you still need to have it activated by the dealer.
Another interresting comparison is that, from what I understood, the US Ralliart can have the Nav system w/ or w/out Bluetooth (separate option pkg) right? While both are part of the single Premium pkg for canada. Why the difference?
In 2007 when I first bought my 2008 GTS it had bluetooth, the DE trim had no capability at all and the middle trim (LE?) was "pre-wired" like this. I guess this is still the case for 2010 Lancers...

I have an 09 Ralliart with no nav and I have bluetooth...That being said, I think bluetooth is standard on all US Ralliarts. I am not surprised that you have a button that does nothing. Car companies do this a lot to save money when in production. Just like how in everyones trunk there is a connection for the oem subwoofer, whether or not if you have that option or not, its there and ends right after the connector if you dont have the option...but regardless its still there.

Weird setup.
By the way, is there any way of accessing the address book of the phone with this system? I find it annoying that it only displays a number on the screen when someone is calling. Also inputting contacts to the cars' system with the voice control system is very slow, but it would seem that it can't access the "address book" of the navi system either? So there's no way of inputting phone numbers from the MMCS
??

I found it weird that it was like this but I suppose I can understand from a manufacturing stant point. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something. Thanks everyone!

don't mean to go off topic, but on the bluetooth issue:
I have 2010 RA (canadian/premium package w/ bluetooth), it has the girl saying "ready.. blahblah"... Whenever i use the bluetooth though, ppl on the other line always complain that it's hard to hear me.. I saw somewhere, but I can't find it now, but.. WHERE EXACTLY IS THE MICROPHONE for the bluetooth system located?! (somewhere near the map lights??)
thankss.......

It's in the actual map light housing. If you pop off the whole plastic piece you'll see the little microphone on the other side of the middle. When you look at it, it does look like a little speaker piece.
