FMIC question

I was just wondering, i really dont like the color of the oem intercoolers, what would be the CONS for maybe spraying it with some light coats of black paint?

obviously, too much paint will partially cover vents thus making intercooler useless, right?

Not so much covering vents as it would be restricting heat transfer. Basically the paint will act like an insulator and prevent the aluminum from coming in direct contact with the passing airflow and therefore it will not work as effectively as an unpainted unit.

If you are still equipped with the OEM RalliArt intercooler, I would recommend against anything that would reduce its already LOW efficiency.

They do make paint for use specifically on radiators, though, and that would be the stuff to look into, if you must. Also you may consider anodizing or purchasing a FMIC from a company like ETS who offers intercoolers anodized in a multitude of colors: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ex...ercoolers.html

i see, imma gonna eventually do the evo x turbo swap on my ralliart, but along the way im still trying to achieve some aesthetics... i was just gonna try and get a evo x oem intercooler, and paint it but nevermind then lol... now i also found a black mishimoto fmic that kinda caught my eye....if i were to purchase one would it fit into my ralliart like the evo x oem would?

yes - because the X FMIC bolts right up - any aftermarket FMIC for the X should bolt up as well. Cruise the EVO X forum for their discusisons and DITYs for the installs.

(so from your sig yer a bubble-chaser, eh? Me too! On F-16s, though)

You will need to change your upper pipe and the coupler for your lower pipe as well.

Thanks!
