Different turbos would be my guess.

The odd thing is it is the GT that has the magnesium compressor wheel and different cover, yet apparently it has the same map as the GSR!

The RS map does seem to help spool up on the GSR though.

Both the High/Low octane fuel maps are the same for the JDM GT/GSR as well. Does anyone has more maps of the JDM RS or the ROM itself? I always thought the GT is basically a RS with aircon, Enkeis, brembos and Recaros. Perhaps the GTs can just use the RS maps if they give better power?

You can put negative numbers in but nothing happens, and I am not sure why you'd want to if you could.

Have you tried? and how do you know nothing happens? When you say nothing happens do you mean you don't gain anything or that the ecu does not processes the -'s?

as posted by f-dub would be a good reason to go negative at ~7k or so.

Because Mitsu says in their service manual that it doesnt, that is why I know it doesnt go negative. There is 30 crank degrees of movement in the MIVEC (covered here in this very thread I believe) and the intake duration as listed by Mitsu starts off IVO 0-30 BTDC.

Actually the camshaft also starts off at what is the equivalent of -5 cam degrees compared to an VIII per Mark at Turbotrix and deducing from this photo (notice cam marks in relationship to each other):

The best I have found with stock IX cams is to have the cam retarded about 1.5* (cam degrees) which means advancing it on the stock map (which mind you is in crank degrees).

are you sure that the camshaft is -5 derees when your map is at 0, id just think that -5 is alot to run on a stock car in the higher rpms

I think I posted earlier that this -5 in comparison to the VIII. It is based on data from the Mitsu service manual, Mark at TurboTrix, and the picture showing an obvious difference in where the intake and exhaust cam line up. Its one of the reasons that the car falls flat on its face after 6500. Reread this thread from around post 40 or so to now.

Bringing this back from the dead.

So has anyone found good (any) gains from modifying the VVT Map? I've read this thread and saw 4-5 different custom MIVEC maps..

My current map at 6500RPM shows values other than "0" in the 180+ cells (Stock has them at 0..)

Not sure if this is helping or not.

I tested extensively and then used the JDM IX RS MIVEC map that was posted.

Maybe I'll try it out also .

I'll probably create two maps.. and test them both at the track. One tuned for my MIVEC map provided by a Tuner on this forum. And the JDM IX RS..
