Dan @ Pruven

That would be nice if he had them for 1. I can examine them and 2. if they are good I can maybe retreive some of the money he scammed me for. That ex- customer of mine bounced a $1200 check on us and took all the parts, the car, and the labor with him. With that being said and all this other bull aside would you help him out? We can see what kind of people we are dealing with here. I have all night.

The only one running themselves into the mud is the one person who tuned all the cars on this thread. Didn't your motor get French Fried too?

I dont know where he towed his car, it wasnt back to your shop thats for sure. End of story .

I brought the point of your past posts because I have found them to be quite informative and helpful and thats what this forum is supposed to be. You as well as myself and others have been through several nightmares and have posted with the intention of helping others prevent the same scenario.........

So with that said........Besides my apology, I also owe you a or two

Cheers Bro....i'll take you up on that offer anytime...

To me saying that knock protection is not a cure all is like saying that rubbers don't prevent against ALL STD's - sure thats true. But they cut down the risk. You still use one - just like knock control - becuase its prudent to take precautions.

Assuming that the tuner has carefully calibrated the tune to run knock free under all desired operating conditions and loads, would NOT a knock control system act as a back up measure in the event of human error or other unforseen conditions?

Even though it is REACTIVE - is it not better to have the ecu pull back timing and add fuel after a knock reading than have the ecu do NOTHING and continue the knock?

Ecu systems have become so fast at adjusting knock - e.g. Subaru that Fuji Heavy Industries has a patented system of ignition adjustment that relies on the ecu listening to knock and adjusting the timing on the fly. I know none of this is news to you.

Respectfully, you post has me most curious and I seek your input.
Sorry if i wasn't clear. I was referring to the knock control systems offered by aftermarket stand-alone computers. In function, they are quite a bit different from the knock control strategies intergrated into factory ECUs. There is a lot of conbustion and noise analysis that goes into the calibration of factory knock control systems. This is rarely the case aftermarket ECUs which are pretty primitive in comparison. I think the mistake that many users make when tuning their cars is to put too much faith in knock logs and less in common sense/det cans.
