true, it is a bit pricey, but it does seem to work fairly reliably. i had some generic usb->serial adapter for my GPS device and it would not work with my AEM EMS; although the radio shack one has not given me any troubles.

Fact of the matter here is, a lot of people on this forum are incredibly cheap, I agree, money well spent, it works. When I had AMS tune, they opted to still use their serial connection.

This one is supposed to be the best but if you do a search on the AEM forums they reccomend not using an adaptor.

I have used the Keyspan USB to serial adapter with very good luck on several different devices. The Belkin one is crap, but the Keyspan one has worked flawlessly.

It's $30 from Amazon or CDW and $40 at CompUSA if you want to pick it up locally.

They may not suggest it, but I'm not paying $200+ for a PCIA to serial adapter when the $30 one from IOGEAR has worked for me since 2003 w/o issues. I've used it on every car I have tuned and it hasn't been a problem.

for USB, the best thing i've found is called a "port replicator". they will usually have a 9pin serial, 2 usb, printer, and extra monitor ports. a good one will cost you ~$150

otherwise, i use a pcmcia adapter card. ~$150 also

when are they gonna release a firewire or usb connection on these boxes already?
