Good Tuner Required

What I need: I need someone experienced with the AEM EMS to assit me and teach me to tune. Im willing to pay for their services, but I insist on being a part of the project as it progesses. I can handle the installation, but preferably I would like to perform the install with a professional, who also has access to welding torches and machinery capable of installing all the required sensors, properly. I would not expect a discount for doing any work myself in the process, and I understand the liabilities of working in someone elses shop, I run one myself.....so a privateer is more what Im interested in.

So I want to install, secure and tune my car, hopefully all in the time of a weekend...and be able to take notes and learn how to do it and what I should be doing in the future to tune the car upon further modifications.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When I tune a AEM I always show the customer everything I am doing and teach them how to data log and revise the maps

Provided you bring a car to me which has all the sensors and such installed I can provide you with a day long tuing session and tutorial which will get you going in the right direction

I do not provide facility to weld with customers

AEM tuning is a difficult task and even the two day long AEM training seminar leaves you with only the basics needed to master tuning a AEM

Once you have a good base map it is relatively easy to adjust it for future mods as long as they are not significant

There are many great Aem tuners throught the United States who can also help you

Sweet....Ive been sparking up some good threads lately....LOL!

Al, I sent you a PM regarding this matter. I figured if I got everything installed, minus the MAF sensor-less intake pipe, and left the stock ECU in, I could bring the car to you with the stock ECU in, do a quick swap to the EMS and intake pipe....and go from there. I need to get the basic setup, cold start maps and get them consistent. Im gonna email you when I need to get going and set something up from there. I might wait till it gets warmer...damn its cold.

I was going to conduct a AEM tuning seminar here at my local shop - Pruven - and give more of a hands on approach to training with a small class of say 5 guys on the dyno and show them not only HOW the AEM softwear works but also give them some specific ideas and suggestions in what to look for in tuning evos. The AEM seminar class offered at AEM is a great program but it is 90% review of the softwear for experienced tuners to show them the specific functions of aem softwear. What the customers need is a combination of sortwear explanation and also some ideas in how to tune and what type of parameters to shoot for. Although I do 99.999 % reflahs tuning - I still have AEM in jmy race car and I had one of the first 5 AEM boxes for an Evo 8 in the USA. I love working with AEM and it can be a very intelectually rewarding and fun experience.

However, I have been working so hard just keeping up with my tuning that I have not found time to do anything about my aem class at all!

I have been holding off on doing promotion of my aem tuning becuase of the lack of pass word protection on the current aem box which is in the works

On another front - starting on Jan 1 - I will be trying to include a tuning seminar for FREE in every city which I visit which will be open to any Evo 8 owner

I intend to review all the tuning and ecu basics as they apply to the Evo and dicusss my ideas, methods and experiences I have had in the past two and 1/2 years tuning evos

My dream for this is to invite a local tuner or shop in each area to come to participate and share their ideas and concepts with us

Such a event will not help you tune a AEM but it may be a interesting evening and a chance to meet other evo owners

TOO often my time is being spent focused on actual tuning process on indiviual cars so I am going to make a concerted effort to interact with customers and non customers in a more relaxing setting where question and answers can be exchanged

GREAT! Keep this posted and updated! Im sure everyone would want to respond. Im sure there is someway to organize it, I mean....thinking of it.....I can arrange it myself. All you'd have to do it show up and present your material....Im sure we can get everyone else on board. Email me at feldguy2002@yahoo.com if you want to consider that option.

It is odd. I sent you a PM a week or so ago asking about AEM tuning in conjunction with a DynoFlash event that some folks in Colorado are trying to get going. You have not responded.

If you were to offer personalized training at the same time, I would make it worth your while to come out just for one tune.
