Require Assistance For HeadUnit Install

Hey guys... need some help =S

well im thinking of getting the CDX-M8805X from my friend...
so i asked him to let me install it first and he let me... so now i have the HU and brackets and everything... but i need to Lancer Harness correct?

the thing about the harness is... the one i saw had 1 end with open ended wires... so i would need to assemble that part by myself or?

not sure how this thing works... if someone would like to help me please post =)

thanks

P.S. this is for a 04 Lancer Ralliart btw

If you have pictures of what you were talking about.. that would help alot. Anyways, I have a Sony head unit and I bought those adapters, but I still needed to splice the wires to make it go in my car. All you gots to do is take the wires from the adapter and connect them to the wires in the car. I first stripped the ends of both wires, connected them up, slipped a little wire sleeve thingy over the wire, connect the two wires together by twisting them, and crimped it down on it. You can get the little sleeves in a kit at radio shack, home depot, or anywhere that sells electrical stuff. It looks like a little plastic tube about 3/4in long that has metal on the inside. Slip both ends of the wire in it, connect them, and crimp it. To connect the adapter with all the wires to the stock wiring inside the dashboard, just make sure you match up all the colors correctly. Thats how I did mine. Check at circuit city or best buy first to see if they have all the correct adapters for that car so you don't have to spice the wires. Expect to pay 10-15 dollars for the little adapter that plugs from the aftermarket headunit cables to the stock stereo connector.

Just take a trip down to Circuit City (I prefer them over best buy for car audio). They usually have ALL the special connector adapters you will need for the car so you WON'T have to splice any wires. That makes it a ton easier. The only reason I had to splice mine is because when I got my lancer it was too new and they didn't make any adapters for it yet.

don't even think they have circuit city in Canada haha... and best buy didn't have the adaptor... =S

ill try ... Canadian Tire or something... but is it hard to splice ur own wires and stuff?

EDIT ** Searched circuitcity's site and they seem to have one that doesn't need splicing... hmm guess maybe i should try this

The splicing is really easy, all you have to do is make sure you have the same color wire from the radio hooking up to the same color wire behind the dashboard. Just make sure you use those little sleeve thingys and crimp them so the other wires don't touch another wire or else that could be bad...

Please dont buy a sony hu, its waste of money. Go to crutchfield.com, they are gettin rid of last years models so they actually have some good prices. Get an alpine. If u order from crutchfield they give u the wiring harness. They also give u instructions on how to actually wire the harness(very simple).

yup...sony headunits rnt as gud as alpine...pioneer and others...sure they look really kool...but as far as output...its not as great as others. and crutchfield is a great place 2 buy...they give u all accessories you are going to need...and im sure its free of charge...or idk if that was the promotion they were running a while back...but u can even go to best buy or any other car audio shop...they all carry harnesses...and it shows which wire is what and u connect 2 wires accordingly...u can go to radioshack and get the "quick disconnects" ones with cover on them and connect the wires from hu harness to the harness ur gonna buy...and when they are connected good just plug in the harness into ur car harness...pretty simple

Don't know why it's been running for so many posts... That's what you're looking for.

1 side has a plastic peice holding all the wires in place
1 side has the wires

The plastic peice connects to the one that's in your dash(currently connected to your stock unit)
On you new unit, you've got wires comming out. Color match them with the harness you just bought
