Sounds like a connection issue to the ECU then. Hopefully a quick software update fixes it...

Finally got my tracking number and my ECU wont be here till the 12th. That really sucks I sent it out almost a month ago. Not their fault just shipping takes to long at a week each way from Florida to California ground.

Are you referring to the AEMTuner software or have you updated the firmware on your ECU and converted your calibration and then loaded it to the car?

If you need some help I can give you a hand updating to the new firmware. I looked over the cal you had sent me and I saw a couple things that could be improved if you so desired. One was a major issue being knock control wasn't turned on...

I got a few local guys that I've tuned and help all the time so let me know if you need anything.

trust me this is a BAD thing! 2 motors later i am here to tell you this is a must. Easy way to look at it is why did the major manufacturers spend millions in R&D and set up this feature especially present on forced induction cars for so called "pro" tooners to turn this off? evoboi trust me you need knock control turned on asap unless you have the budget and really like rebuilding motors. knock control is usually turned off during tuning when on high octane fuel but should be switched back on especially when running pump gas. even if not tuned on the edge on pump gas the possibility of getting bad gas or wife/girlfriend/ life partner puts 87 in your car is always there. leaving knock control turned off is asking for it. if nothing else let itzwolf at least turn it on and log a few pulls it will save you thousands!!!!!

Well the knock cal table is flat lined at 0.6v in his tune and the base cal starts at .3v and increases to 1.1 so the tuner was in that part of the tune and changed the table.

Ugh ... this is really upsetting me (This is Samantha btw, Troy's {evoboi005} girlfriend). I don't see why someone would leave the knock control off ... in the stock CAL I can almost see it, but after paying to be tuned ... unacceptable.

It happens more often then you'd think. While it's not a requirement obviously I say why not use a safety tool if it exists. Especially when using 93 octane where the fuel quality can change day to day, station to station, brand to brand. Race gas I can see due to the consistency but even then why not use it? Every car I've ever tuned I turn it on.

Suprastar's Evo has an extremely loud GSC 2.2L rally engine that was originally intended for the GSC rally car. No crankshaft counterweights, no balance shafts, etc and even though it took a while to distinguish knock from the sometimes scary looking knock volts its spot on, runs very well, and has been for months while seeing a good bit of racing. Maybe Troy's engine was similar and the tuner didn't have time/patience/desire to properly configure it.

That motor is amazing ... I personally know Greg and knew his work before we chose him to rebuild our motor.

I guess since I'm so used to working on air cooled Porsches with carburetors ... this has been a whole different ball game for me and a learning experience. But I have enough common sense to know that if the system has a knock sensor and control, it needs to be on. Safety is safety, that's something you NEVER cut corners on. I know Troy won't buy gas anywhere except from a certain station in town. I wish race gas wasn't so expensive ;o)

We'll definitely get with you here soon about a tune.
