Evo wont start with AEM EMS and has dead cyl number 2

When the car gets the OEM ECU put back on it fires right back up however it has a dead cyl number 2.

Engine was taken apart everything checked out fine we put a new head gasket on it.

Took the head to a machine shop and everything was fine.

It wont even start with AEM EMS.

What could be wrong?

We checked the resister, injector signal, spark.......

If it runs with the stock ecu and not with the aem my guess is your using the wrong basemap and/or the tables are way off. Could be a bad ecu buy i doubt it.

Car ran fine before and its tuned.

It runs with the stock ECU but like crap with a dead cylinder.

you might want to be more specific about your setup. List out your mods and tell us what base cal you are using.

So something happened with the engine and now it doesn't start on AEM?

Could be AEM, seen that before.

Am I the only one that reads it starts on stock ECU but cylinder #2 is not firing? It's not AEM related but rather something with the car itself and needs fixed before moving forward with AEM.

You said its was tuned was that on AEM or stock ECU and the problem was found when switching?

Verify the following for cylinder #2:

1) You are getting a strong spark (I know you said you do got spark but is it strong enough?)
2) You are getting fuel (is the injector actually spraying fuel/top of piston wet?)
3) You infact have good compression

And as far as the base map I have found the v1 box calibration isnt even close for much of a sputter (if that) and needs a full tune to actually run the car properly. Once you solve your cylinder #2 problem you'll need someone to assist with tuning to get the car running on its own. Of course this only applies if it wasn't already tuned on AEM but this was clearly stated what it was tuned on.

Car was tuned on AEM EMS.

It wont even start with the AEM EMS.

It starts with the stock ECU.

The car had 150 compression to all 4 cyl.

However the motor was taken apart eitherway we changed the head gasket and took the head to a machine shop. The car was tuned already.

We tried other PTE 1200cc injectors and I guess cyl #2 is getting spark but it might not be strong enough. I will ask my mechanic how can he see or make sure its getting enough spark.

Sounds like bad AEM ecu and a ignition or fuel problem with cylinder 2. Check your harness and verify fuel and spark.

If your on stock ignition make sure the wires are in all the way on your coil packs.

itzwolf is on point. If the issue is there with both the Stock ECU and AEM EMS, it sounds like an issue with the car, or how things are setup in the car. Sounds like it is time to dig through the wires and start checking each system one by one.

At least check for stat synch and all.

Then try some known good coils from a working evo.

Aem will not work if car is not right. The Aem is already very fincky. There is no way the Aem will fire up with dead cyl wiring issues and maybe low battery low alt voltage. All that needs to be checked. Get your dead cyl issue resolved with oe ecu. Then start with cam crank sensor ie stat sync with your aem. If you can try another Aem after those first things are worked out then you could detrmine if yours is bad or you still have probs.
