aem base map?

I just ordered my plug and play aem ems with the wide band uego. I was wondering if the base map it comes with is ok to run on my car for a while and also will it add any performance? I am new to tuning and was wondering how hard the auto map function is to use? I only have a 3 inch RNR turbo back exhaust. I will be purchasing the map sensor soon and getting an intake.

the base map will run your car fine... its pretty conservitive. but honestly i wouldnt bother putting the ems in till you get the map and ait sensor. no sence in having to set everything up twice.

Why are you going with the 5bar map sensor? Do you plan on major upgrades shortly, similar to what George is doing at Boost Solutions?

i always like to use the 5bar sensor. i setup all my maps using the boost comp method. if something happens to the boost control this method will provide fuel for any boost pressure up to the limit of the map sensor. in a customers turbo civic this has saved him a few times when he had vac lines blow off..... 42psi on a huge turbo (around 500hp at 16psi) and it held together just b/c of that.... afr was perfect all the way up.

I made 302 on just the AEM. The rest of the car fully stock on the DYNOJET. I had my car tuned by Mark French(TurboTrix) and Jason Siebels(AEM)

but the 5bar MAP sensor is not as accurate at low boost as the 3.5bar correct?

no, as long as you set it up properly there is no difference

On paper there is less resolution, since a smaller change in the sensor voltage results in the same pressure change, but realistically the AEM MAP sensors are very precise and whether you choose the 3.5 or 5 BAR sensor, it will be real close and real consistent.

The AEM sensors are actually more accurate than most boost gauges on the market.
