Hard start when cold Evo 8 EMS v1
Hard start when cold Evo 8 EMS v1
I know, another "cold start problem" thread.
I have literally worked on this issue for over a year without making a thread, I feel like I've earned it.
A bit about the car, long story short, previous owner put an Evo 4 engine in my Evo 8 to get it running after spinning the bearing in the built engine. It is a totally stock long block with an AMS VSR intake manifold, 3" turbo back exhaust, 4" intake, 255 Walbro fuel pump, and the AEM ecu.
I've gotten my cold starts (cold as in its 60* or colder outside) to be a little better than what they were when I first got the car spring '13 but I havent ever been about to make it be consistent.
I havent been driving it nearly as much recently and the last time I went to start it it took me about 30 minutes of cranking to finally get it going after a lot of back firing which it's never done before. Nothing has changed since the last time it was this cold.
I have tried everything in every thread I have ever found from adjusting the crank adv., the park/reset IAC, messing with the crank injector table, the warm up table etc etc etc. the car runs great once its running. I have gotten all of the stalling issues taken care of since I got the car.
I will be the first to admit my tuning skills are limited, my tune is not the best, but I have uploaded it for anyone that is interested in taking a peek and making suggestions. I will try anything to get this car to start in the cold weather like it does in the warm, which still isn't great.
*edit* also using the factory crank and cam sensors/discs. I have contemplated getting the 12 tooth trigger disc when I build the engine eventually but for now it's all stock.
