Integrate other sensors into EMS?

Hey,

I want to get an EMS and have it control evertyhing (Boost, Nos, A/f, etc.). I realize that I need to get sensors for everything (from AEM?) to be able to accomplish this.

This question came up in the General forum though:

I plan on getting an HKS CAMP unit to hook up to a Pioneer Head unit screen and monitor my gauges electronically on that. I was hoping the EMS could accept and use the inputs from the CAMP sensors to run its operations for controlling the car. It would cost me alot less and the engine bay would be less cluttered. Any ideas?

Here's the link to the thread:

Thanks!

if you have the EMS already just mount the laptop under the seat buy a display off ebay and create your own dash. With the EMS you are already monitoring near everything (boost, temps, knock, AFR, ..etc) To moinitor EGT's, fuel pressure, oil pressure you will need new sensors reguardless of what unit you go with.

Thanks mcaze. That is a great idea; I hadn't even thought of that. It could theoretically cause some problems with hardware reliability and durability, but I think it could be done. I was planning on getting the gauge display first, and then the EMS later, simply for cost and tuning purposes, but I may have to rethink that timeline. I pretty much figured you couldn't integrate the sensors, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Blak94GSX:

Thanks for the links! That first set up is more in line with what I had in mind. Definitely a way I think I'd like to head with the EMS. Now I just have to save up the 5 grand for the combined cost of the sensors, EMS, head unit, etc.

Theibault:

I can't bring my car up here yet. I'm afraid it wasn't mine. Definitely plan on bringing it out when I get a chance though. It's yellow btw
