Where do you plumb in the Air Temp Sensor.

Since I will be going with a MAP based control scheme for the EMS, I also need a new Temp sensor. Where is the best place to plumb it, and is there a location where I could place it in the manifold (to be more accurate)?
I plan on using the recommended GM part (AEM kit 30-2010). Do I really need a bung welded on somewhere, or is there a location where I can add this already?

I put mine right before the bend in the intercooler piping right before it runs into the throttle body. Some people say to put it in the intercooler itself but from reading the AEM forums the best place is still before the throttle body. Here is a link with a pretty good write up on the MAP, IAT, and Boost Solenoid install. I got the MAP installed pretty easy as far as the IAT and Boost Solenoid there are no real wiring diagrams for the pigtails. So you use the stock wiring harness but you dont know what is ground and what is the sending wire. Trial and error i guess. GOOD LUCK

Cool thanx. Ya i used all GM sensors except for the MAP i used the AEM 3.5 bar. I wonder if my IAT sensor is messed up then becouse it is reading all over the board when i start the car. You would happen to know about the GM Boost solenoid wiring do you?

I don't believe that the solenoid has a polarity. You can wire it either way.

I put mine right after the the intercooler on the lower piping on the bend. I had mine initially close to the throttle body, but it was heat soaking and giving higher temp readings than there were. I just tapped a hole and used silicone to seal it up. It works great now and never heat soaks.

When you say "heat soaking", is that from under hood heat? What are the symptoms of heat soak? Running lean?

When I say heat soaking, I mean that the piping gets heated from the engine which results in false readings to the air-temp sensor.

Mine's about 18" from the throttle body. The GM part is cheap as dirt, simple to replace, and has preset definitions in the AEM Pro software. Definitely a great way to go.
