Tyres too big for Lancer Coupe or not

I am looking to fit 205/50 R15 on my Lancer 2002 Coupe, will these hit inside the rear guards and how badly? Can something be done to minimise the problem easily?

Wheels would be Avanti Raptor 5 or 6 spoke 15" size.

I am interested in your experiences even with larger ie 16" or 17" sizes on same car.

It depends on how low u have it sitting. I have 205/40/16 with 1" lowered Kings springs in front, and it doesn't come anywhere near the guard. My mate had 17/40s with superlow Kings, and I don't think it scrubbed either (a long time ago).

I'd 16s though.. they're leagal, not too much more expensive, and that exta inch makes a difference to the look.

Goodluck

Wheels for Lancer

Sandman, that sounds like solid advice to me, thanks. What I didn't specify was how well does the rubber clear the REAR guards??

I have also come to the same conclusion, that 16" is the way to go. Had a major drive around looking at all types of cars this afternoon and 15" just doesn't cut it at all.

with standard rear shocks, mine sit about an inch below the gaurd... an inch inside with 2-3 people in the back. I had it lowered to the legal limit (100mm min. clearance) with coilovers, and NEVER had it scrub. U should never have a problem with 16"s. I'd probly go 45 profile though.. my speedo/odometer are out.. over 5km, adds approx 100m to ur mileage ... I'd rather 100 less by usein the slightly larger tires!

The latest news

I've decided to go with 16" now and will use 205/45 tyres. The deal is $1600 the lot fitted. Tyres are the Nankang SR1 or something close to that. Probably not a choice tyre but does bring the package cost in at a sensible value. Same rim style as before.

Thanks for all advice and help

Happy or not Evoposer

Evoposer.

That all sounds good. I trust you have no issues with the rubber touching inside the rears guards anyplace??

Best Mags on Lancer Coupe 2002

I am not so sure that I want Raptor 5 spokes anymore.

What are the best wheels you have seen on a Lancer. I know this will be in your opinion but that is welcome. I saw the best set ever last night here in Bundaberg Qld. Might cruise tonight in a hope of tracking it down and finding out what is fitted.

Post links pictures whatever, I am a man in need!
