Average Price for Rear Spoiler

I recently bought a Lancer, it's a 2001 coupe. It is my first car and I don't know too much about it. Anyway, it's a basic generic Lancer that I want to tart up, bit by bit. The first thing I want is a rear spoiler. How much do these normally go for? I am talking about the standard spoiler that you see on the back of most Lancers now days, nothing fancy like wings or anything. The Mitsubishi dealer that sold me the car said it was $550 including installation (the salesman originally said $695, but then I pretended that I had a better offer elsewhere and he changed the price). Is this a fair price or a rip off? How much do rear spoillers + installation normally go for? Cheers.

Evoposer is right, buy a different style. Also, from a non-dealer shop, you have more variety to choose from - and you don't have to pay the ridiculous mark-up the dealers put on just because it has the symbol on it.

Just my personal opinion...
If you're looking at having a complete body-kit in the end don't start with a rear-wing. Start with side skirts, then front bumper, then rear bumper and then the rear-wing.
I find some cars with just a rear-wing look pretty lame. And you might even like the look WITHOUT the rear-wing...I slightly regret getting a rear-wing now, all my friends say that without it, my car would look more "slick" and they're right! (photochopping helped me see the light)
Now I'm looking at getting a new boot-lid.

yeah i agree with ya. i got a old lancer.. still looks alright. except the rear spoiler. i got it because the dealer said he would give me a great tint if i go with the warranty deal. i said how about a spoiler. he said hmmm ok. now i got this crappy little spoiler at the back. if u want to get it professionally taken off it costs stacks cause they gotta fill in the wholes and paint over the gaps.

any real mitsu parts cost more so shop around !

evoclone how come you think you should start with side skirts. i rekon startin from the front is the sweetest. cause the evo bumper dosnt hang too much lower then the standard sides of the aussie lancer. put skirts on the sides only it looks a little strange?

Sorry...I should have explained myself a bit more...
Depending on the model of your car and the style of kit you're going for:
Most stock front bumpers are low enough so you can fit aftermarket sideskirts (that don't go too 'low') and it doesn't look off-balance.
Our stock lancer models (for any year) - with no kit - have no 'extensions' to the sides, so placing an aftemarket front bumper (that usually ends up sitting low) will make it look a bit weird (IMO)
(hard to explain)....just like those Aus Super Touring cars. I'll try to post some pics - hope it works.
But then again, that's my opinion....to each his own.

Cheers lads for all your replies. Evo_Clone I was actually thinking of getting side skirts before a spoiler. What's the standard prices for those with installation?

Does anybody know what places are around (especially in the Perth area) that do things like side skirts and spoilers? Is there a directory or anything like that lists all these places?

As you can see this is all very new to me, thanks for helping out this new Lancer owner.

So guys do you think $550 is a reasonable price for a spoiler or am I being done if I decide to go for it?
