Dodgy Dealer in NSW - Beware!
Not really even sure if this will be helpful to anyone but i thought it can't hurt to make the post anyway.
I was looking at buying an Evo 8 MR from a dealer in Sydney, NSW - was listed on carsales for $54,890 (or something, couple hundred shy of 55k) with 149,000km on it. I live in QLD but contacted them and sent a mechanic in the area to look at it and he told me it was covered in rust, sent a bunch of photos etc etc, no good. Dealer contacted me and showed me another one he had there as well, and sent me a bunch of photos of the underbody which looked to have been freshly sprayed. I told the dealer that if he was happy to pay to get the same mechanic around to inspect the other one he was talking about that i would be willing to pay his asking price for it, and while he agreed to this, after chasing him for a week and getting ignored it never ended up happening. I ended up deciding to avoid them altogether, especially since i was unable to look at the cars myself.
Now, that on it own wouldn't be so bad, but i've just noticed that the same dealer has created a listing on carsales using all the same photos, but has listed it for $3000 more and it now has 109,000km, and the same VIN number has been used for both listings. I was also unable to get any results when looking up the VIN number, and when i told the dealer this he explained that he made a mistake and the wrong VIN was on the carsales listing, and he text me another VIN which also had no information. All this combined with how pushy the dealer was with me makes me think something dodgy is going on there.
