Trying to help a friend. Need ideas

Hey guys a friend of mine got a gs-t (97 in great shape) for a gift from his girly. Any how he is wanting some help comeing up with the right set of toys for it. So I guess more so for fun if you had that car and 6,000 to spend what would you buy to get the most out of the motor. His goal is to be able to beat zo6 vette's and what not from a roll.

He is trying to find a 1g motor so he can have the 6 bolt setup to start with but if thats a fail then he is going to build what he has.

Anyways I wanted to see what we could come up with.

my ideas were the normal, start with makeing sure nothing is wrong with car lol
fix old motor(if needed)
get exhaust
already has intake
get motor build from ams?
add larger turbo kit. (cant forget the supporting mods)
At that point his funds should be pretty tapped out.

Free stuff..
--Weight reduction. =) Strip the interior and other unnecessary stuff like body sealant. (the nasty gooey black stuff underneath on the frame and wheel wells.

Yes, get the motor build from AMS, and the large turbo kit.. probably need injectors, fuel pump, fuel rail, and all that stuff too, to beat a z06.. the vette is fast. He will need some form of management for the a/f and stuff too. (safc, emanage, etc..)

The funds should be exhausted pretty quick after that.. lol. I still don't know about the whole vette thing..

Oh, and all of this on a stock clutch? He might need something better than that. Especially if it is a used car and you don't know how it was treated before. (just because the outside might look good, the engine and trans are a whole diff story)

I had a 96 gst spyder decently modded. I put down 315whp 330trq on 93 PUMP GAS. On race gas I have no clue what I was pushing, but I can tell you I walked many a car on the highway. I would tell your friend to RUN, RUN far away. Don't mod this car. It is a money pit. Nothing but trouble with my car and the same for all my friends with the same car. I had CRANKWALK with my car 4K miles after I bought it.

These were my mods:

Big 16G
S-AFC
550 injectors
Buschur 3" TBE
Ported intake manifold
1st gen throttle body
Greddy big FMIC
upper and lower piping
HKS SSQ BOV
hallman boost controller
ACT 2900
Fidanza flywheel
18x8 using 35 series tires

The car ran a 13.6 @ 109.89 and then I ran a 13.6 @ 102 missing a gear well before the finish line, which would have yielded a much lower pass. Maybe a low 13 @ 111-112

I sold the car to a friend and the car is sitting in his garage. He had HKS 272 installed along with a new clutch. He does not drag race and has not even drove the car yet. It's been sitting in his garage for 6 months now without moving. I told him to get methanol injection and have it retuned, but he knows nothing about these cars. Personally I would never drive another eclipse with a 7 bolt 4G63 again.

I have me racing many mustangs, corvettes, and various other vehicles at the track that I BEAT. Maybe I'm a good driver.

The only car to beat me was a 12 sec Poopra and a 10 sec muscle car. I have GREAT footage of me racing a built mustang. He did a massive burnout while I was already staged and the crowd went NUTS. He left me off the line like a sitting duck, but I pulled him pretty hard and reeled him in and passed him just before the finish. My friend filming said the crowd went absolutely ape **** when I pulled him and won. You can hear them screaming in the video.

I also have footage of me racing a Corvette and he left me off the line too and I passed him just before the finish. He ran a 13.7 to my 13.6.

EDIT: This car is worthless with FWD and over 300whp, FUN but worthless.

I thought we were talking about the z06? ...the new z06 with 500hp? or just the regular corvette with 400hp.. or the older ones with even less? And also, yea it depends on the driver too.. and if the corvette is modded. Most likely if he is racing, hes modded. Anyways, its gonna take alot to make a 97 used gs-t beat a new vette. I don't think it will even be able to touch the new z06 though. Yea, and those cars engines aren't that great. Crankwalks, timing belt issues, bending valves, etc.. ugh.
I'd like to see how many miles are on this motor too.. if its above 70k-80k, it needs to be rebuilt anyways.
