Boost taper

With a custom flash for an EVO8 is it possible to have the ecu control boost and eliminate or reduce the amount of stock boost taper? If not, how much boost taper will there be?
I'd like to have increased boost and very little taper but I also like having the ecu adjust for atmospheric conditions.
Thanks

having the ECU controll the boost will help. The MBC will help better but there is no way to completely eliminate it.

How much more effective is a MBC versus the ECU at eliminating boost taper? Is it just 1-2 psi or more like 5-6 psi?

The problem is the ECU's boost control is a bleed type system which maxes out its capacity seemingly around the 20-21psi mark. There are ways to improve it but its easier to go with a manual boost controller at this point.

Depends on how aggressive your ignition map is.

Basically just let the tuner set the boost points for you ok

Definitely. They're inexpensive, very effective, and easy to install.
