Advice on plus with methanol
Advice on plus with methanol
I run an AMS alky kit with dual M10 and M15 sprayer setup. My boost is set at 35psi.
I am using NGK BPR8ES plugs. I set my gap at 0.022. I am getting approximately 3500k miles on a set of plugs before they begin to cause break up (backfire at wide open throttle in upper RPMs) and show show significant amount on corrosion (white white wash on side terminal).
I have an HKS DLI II installed on the car in an attempt to amplify spark.
What is the general experience with plug life given these conditions?
What are other using for gap given similar conditions?
What plug are others using for similar conditions?
I am looking for some feedback to develop an opinon based on my and others experience. Your input is requested and welcome.............

based on your methanol input and the HKS DLI thats about standard.
Toss on a COP and those plugs should last quite a bit longer.
The colder the plug on a daily driver the shorter the lifespan.

a "hotter" plug doesn't mean a hotter spark, it means it wont transfer as much heat from the combusion chamber to the head, keeping the plug itself hotter and raising the combusion chamber temps. If you use too "hot" a plug for your power level it can cause preignition because the plug itself basically becomes a giant hotspot.
We've had mixed results with the DLI, I've seen quite a few of them go bad or even burn out coils. Also plug life depends on your tune, if you're runnning big injectors and your tune is off (too rich at part throttle or WOT for example) it can shorten plug life.
