Twin-scrool vs. Open scroll test!

I almost forgot about this but all this talk about the new buzzword 'twin-scroll' reminded me that we actually did a back to back test. The test was done on Tim's Evo-Lander, Outlander with a EVO drivetrain. We did a back to back test with nothing changing but the turbine housing. It went from a .85 A/R twin scroll to a .68A/R open housing. Looking at my logs the only thing that changed was the open scroll run went lean up top and I had to add fuel. Why you ask? because the open scroll made more power at high RPM's. Look at the dyno chart below for proof, about 50whp of proof! I was suprised to see no gain in spool-up from the twin-scroll. We even spoke to a Garrett turbo engineer today and they said that on a proper setup a twin scroll turbo will lose power at high RPM's to an open volute design.

Here is the setup on Tim's Evolander
2.3 stroker with ported head
AMS VSR
AEM EMS
Custom header with dived runners (for twin scroll)
GT40R
First run was with a twin scroll .85 A/R housing and then we switched to a .68A/R open housing from PTE.
This test was done almost two years ago!

It begins.....

What kinda effect would the .85 A/R twin scroll to a .68A/R have on the turbo? What twin scroll manifold did you Test? I see custom header and was wondering if we could see some pics of it. Any chance you guys would like to test the Full Race stuff Vs. your traditonal single scroll housing? I believe that is the test all of us would love to see.

Single Vs. Twin 35R

Thanks again for the test.

Great info, the custom header your using is the top mount header that was already on the car right?

It's a metal water pipe with silicon couplers . Tim put his heart and soul into that beautiful creation and really appreciates the compliments I'm sure.

is it possible to get the individual coil cover like on this car. I really like it looks like the stock spark plug cover. very clean
