Engine break-in

Hey on your web site, it has the Engine break-in instructions. In that ya'll mention a "clamp" on the oil filter to keep it on when removing the balance shafts. I have not heard of this nor seen a clamp to do this. Can you explain a bit further?

it's a clamp on the oil filter to keep it from vibrating off.

Usually we use a standard worm gear clamp like the ones holding your intercooler piping together. Just put it on the filter in a way that it would be impossible to spin off. On evos usually we clamp the oil filter to the oil cooler line, not too tight though.

Not sure, but they might be talking about this (notice the clamp on the filter):

so I take it you've had problems with them coming off? How? lol I've never been able to even get mine off without pliers or something and I install them only hand tight.

It's just a little reassurance it won't come off =) It takes a minute or two longer to do a oil change but thats the time I am willing to take.

+1 Once you start tracking your Evo, you'd be amazed at what comes undone over time.
