Just a question

I just signed up for the forum yesterday, but I've been reading non-stop. I think I already have answers to my questions, but figured you guys would be the best to ask.

I'm buying an '05 Evo later this week. I went and looked at it this morning, left the guy some money blah blah blah. You don't care about this part.

The car has 26k miles. It has an AMS turboback, Walbro pump, Forge diverter valve and manual boost controller and a K&N filter. Martin tuned it I think last summer. Again, I'm positive I know the answer but I'll ask anyhow. How the car sits with those mods, it's fine for a daily driver, yes? (Made 286/289 in June on a humid 91 degree day during the tune)

Going forward, will your FMIC, LICP (to complete your Stage 2) and your Stage 3 (bolts/cams) and a retune from you guys still work for a daily driver? I'm more concerned with the cams, but from the reviews you guys posted and a few others, it seems like the GSC S1 cams would be just fine for daily driver. I go to the trip once in a while, but other than that it's just my daily driven fun car.

Either way, I can't wait to get the car. I'm from the metro-Detroit area and have heard of you guys plenty of times over from the Mitsu/Subaru crowd. I will certainly be making a trip out there sometime for the next run of mods and a retune.

I've got both the AMS FMIC and LICP - they are great pieces and great additions to the setup you already have. No worries.

There are a lot of choices on cams. The S1's are pretty popular for the IX (2006 model) especially.

Welcome!

Thanks for the reassurance, ha.

I know a retune will obviously help, but will I be okay driving around without on for a bit? Or should I plan on a retune ASAP after I install them? I'm sure if I'm out of the boost I should be fine, but I don't know if the FMIC/LICP makes enough difference to cause a problem. My guess is the cams wouldn't be as sensative because it doesn't have as much of a direct effect on air/boost.

That probably couldn't be more backwards

Cams have a serious effect on airflow, especially related to engine control. The FMIC/LICP probably will not require an immediate retune, but you shouldn't put the pedal to the floor (or drive much at all if you can help it) with a cam change
