License Plate

Hey guys,

I know a lot of people actually move their license plates to the left because of the vinyl on thier grill. I was actually wondering if you just take them out, drill two holes and vinyl the original? I actually have a black lancer, but i just want to move the license plate cause i think it doesnt look right in the centre, so do you just take two small pieces of vinyl to cover it? If anyone can help me out, it'll be greatly appreciated, thanks!

ya this has been talked about before on the forum. doing a search with those key words should help you find some posts.

But for the most part you should be fine. Putting a vinyl over the wholes is ok just make sure you take your bumper off and back stop the holes. If you dont support the whole from the rear, over time the wind force will start to push into the drilled hole and kinda ruin the look of your nose vinyl.

hope that helps/?

Yes deffently make sure you back fill. My nose vinyl lasted over a year then finally caved while on the 401 one very windy day. Now I have to replace the whole piece.

thats pretty funny cause I have the side plate since day 1 on my ralliart and the 3rd day I had the car. I got pulled over cause the cop thought I didn't have a front place. She was wrong but its all about luck.

I got no front license plates tickets on two of my cars in the span of 3 months.. doh!

In both cases, there was no place to mount the front plate on cars that I just got on the road but I got tickets anyway. Oh well, my bad.

What is this vinyl you guys are talking about? Is it that black rubber nose piece?

Here's my quick story...

I bought the new lancer, and my front plate was scratched from a previous car accident (on my old car)...So i never mounted the front plate...

-May 07 (first batch of lancers woohoo!) till...Jan 09 never got a ticket.
-Jan 09 - Feb 09 Pulled over once, told cops snow and all i had an accident and the plate came off...gave me a warning...10 days for new plate
-Feb 09 pulled over again...$109 ticket

guess I paid my dues for driving without a front plate for almost 2 years haha
