Uh.. you do realize an SI is a 160 hp rated car... and costs 19,000 base.... So if you are worried about getting beat by one you need to re-evaluate how you look at what you race.

Also the CRX's some of them were pretty slow.. but they have the whole horsepower to weight thing going on. So...

Anyway... running a 16 something quarter is not that bad in a stock econobox type car.

But my typical point of view though regardless... does a quarter mile really matter? It's not a race.. it's a straight line... our cars handle pretty well for what they are.. and can be made to handle very well. They are good cars... ang 16s isn't terrible.

Standard Engine 2.0L 160 hp I4 2.0L 160 hp I4
Horsepower 160 @ 6500 RPM 160 @ 6500 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 132 @ 5000 RPM 132 @ 5000 RPM

I didn't realize this was in the candian forum.... so maybe you guys have a different SI... but the one in the U.S. is 160 hp for the last 5+ years approximately.

actually there is no SI hatchback here!! hehe. in Canada the hatchback with 160 hp is the SI-R model, the SI is only available in the sedan version of the civic. you are right about the hp though. the engine in the SI-R is the same one out of the
RSX-S, but de-tuned slightly.

i'm not all that concerned about 1/4 mile, cuz i'm more of a rally guy or at least road course. and i know my car could out handle most cars out there pretty easily, but it's just the fact that being that slow, a lot of cars pull on you on the streets. and that's where it counts really. if you have a hot chick in the car with you and some guy tries to rev his ****box, it would be nice to know i could easily take him rather than trying to see what model it is and trying to calculate in my head if i can beat him or not.

yes, you are correct. but for this model year (2003) the hatchback is indicated by an SI-R. i've worked on a couple already, they look stupid and gay. the shifter is part of the centre console, underneath the radio as opposed to being on the floor. makes it really wierd to shift. not to mention the headlights are massive.

the only way you beat a TT is if he raced the whole time in 1st gear...and even then he would have pulled on you for the first 75ft or so
