Very cool ! My friend has a evo 3 , his is decently modified aesthetically . Engine tho makes just over the 400whp mark... I call it the fast forward car haha.. When it was at around 280whp it went 12.1@116... So I can only imagine now lol. Love the old evo's tho, only thing I recommend is brakes .. They don't have much in that department .. But is the only lacking part with them.

Cheers
Aaron

Is there anyone in western Canada who can properly tune my IX? English Racing isnt exactly an option.

1) What model Evo?
2) Where are you located?
3) Do you have a wb O2 installed on your car? (preferably running one of the 5V signals to a serial output)

IX MR. No wideband yet though I know one is needed for logging/ tuning. Vancouver, B.C. Stock except for K&N drop in filter. No ER due to my sordid past. Thanks for any help.

Also, because of wanting a clean dash I have an Evodroid ordered. I'll use it to log.

Only options locally are really RocketRally in squamish and Racing Greed... but even then I'd still recommend making the trek out to ER.

Or you could consider an email street tune...

I can do a basic tune on your car if you want. People think tuning is rocket science and it's not. It does however require attention to detail and the right data. I did rom disassembly for JDM Evos back in Trinidad and have tuned many Evos. If you are willing to meet We can do some 3rd gear logs and see how your car is running. There are limitations however.

The most we'll be able to do is adjust timing since you have neither a wb nor 3bar map to log boost. A tuning shop would have a tail pipe O2 to measure your afrs but if you really want a proper tune you should get the O2 welded between 1 and 3 o'clock first and have the white 0-5V signal from the sensor running to pin 73 of the ecu. That plus the 3bar Map and you'll be able to log boost and afr very precisely in Evoscan. With that we can maptrace your 3rd gear pulls and adjust the high octane fuel and timig maps as well as smooth out your boost curve via the Boost desired engine load and Wategate Duty Cycle tables.

People are right in recommending ER...they are a great shop BUT if you really love your evo you'll want to know what is really going on under the hood. It's not hard, you just have to be patient and willing to learn.

I should also mention that any email tune vendor worth their weight in gold would NOT tune your car without you having a wb installed. Just a heads up. I would do that first before you even think about a tune.

Not to worry, there wont be any changes made without a wb and plenty of logging. I'm terrified of grenading my engine immediately after paying the car off by being impatient. Would an E.G.T. sensor also be a good idea? All the info possible through the ecu is my thought. My first round of mods will be sensors. I have read Merlins guide and watched the videos so Im not completely lost. Still, messing around with things is daunting to say the least. Mr. R. Mutt sir, if you're willing to ride around and help me learn you'll have a friend for life and a tub full of beer! Same goes for everyone else who wants to help. Or just screw around going fast.

The Merlin's guide is an excellent resource! I would never say egt is a bad idea but its not necessary. It's most useful if the car is seeing track time and running for longer periods of time at wot. For a street car that may see the strip or autocross here and there its not necessary. I've pm'ed you my contact info to get in touch.

What about local places for drive train fluids? I'll hit 45k and need to do all of them. Probably OEM would be best but if anyone can suggest something else (that you use) I'm all ears. Or you know, eyes cause I'm reading. Thanks gang! k3lv try calling garage 5, I think they could order for you and it'll save you shipping/import costs.
