Newby wanted info on Maps

Hey you guys,

I'm pretty new to the modding scene (had a 2.5 RS 02 bugeye before getting this), recently got my EVO X GSR a month and a half ago and like most people on this forum... I want more . My EVO is stock and thought a tune would be a good start on modding (any other suggestions go ahead). So my question is when I do pull the trigger on the APV3, Which map would be good to start off on and what are its perks.. I saw these 2 and wanted to know the difference. Thanks in advance for all comments!

Normal Wastegate
Stage1 91 v403 91+ Stock Any Stock 4.03

Low Wastegate - For vehicles exceeding target boost
Stage1 91 LWG v403 91+ Stock Any Stock 4.03

Best Mods are Tune, E85 (requires fueling upgrades), 3-port, Test Pipe, Intake. Once these are done, incremental gains can be had by adding others like intercooler, full exhaust, DV, etc.

If you have no other mods, use the Stage 1 normal wastegate map. Low wastegate is if you are exceeding boost targets.

Thanks for the response! What do you think of meth/injec? The closest e85 gas station to me is about 20mi and that is kind of impractical for me if I'm filling up on a weekly basis. Also 93 octane is not an option since CA allows everything else but 93.

I've never been a fan of water/meth, but others will say they love it. My closest E85 station is only 5 miles from me, so it's a non-issue. I use the AP to store both a 91 and E85 map in case I am ever somewhere without E85. It's happened only a few times, but always good to have both maps.

The only difference between those two maps is going to be the low wastegate map will run less wastegate duty cycle. This will help bring the boost pressure down on cars that are exceeding the 23.5 PSI boost target. I would recommend starting out with the normal wastegate map, monitor your boost pressure, and then switch to either the high or low wastgate map as necessary.
