"Evo XI" rumors, speculations, and media reports.
The FR-S was a collaboration with Subaru though, so maybe that's why it took longer. I heard about hybrid rumors a couple years ago, but it was on some sketchy site so I wasn't sure how reliable of a source it was. Fast forward to today and they're still talking about the hybrid. I know it's still a ways away, I just really worry that the price of the Evo is going to get crazy. When I was working at a dealership, the least expensive good performance hybrids we had were around 26k, which is already much less than a new Evo. #firstevoproblems I guess.
Great example is the Mazda RX-9/7 after the RX-8.
I won't lose any sweat until we see something more concrete.
I'm not to worried about the next Gen. I have a X, who with a ten is already thinking about getting the next gen? I only have 46k miles. I'll switch evos every other generation most likely if not every third. 46k miles, I'm still good till 2020.
165 hp LOL
no thx
That's cool and all and I obviously respect your opinion...however I couldn't care less what the MPG is, it's a damn evo.

I think I figured out the engine that they will likely use:

A 1.2L, 3 cylinder MIVEC engine would be a perfect fit. In the Mirage application, it's only producing 74 hp/74 tq, but if used in the next EVO, I'm sure it will be pushed a bit more. Most likely, 100 hp/100 tq or more.

You seem to forget that the whole topic is discussing the EVO XI's being an AWD hybrid configuration. Say they use the standard 74 hp, 1.2L without upgrading the power. If they create parity in the drive train (i.e., the three electric motors and the internal combustion engine all have the same power), the EVO would have 296 hp, not 100 hp.

sigh... lots of folks in the car industry think Mitsu might be close to abandoning ship in the US of A...

I only hope Mitsu has something REAAALLLY Good up in the backburner for the Evo... cause ours is hella dated by now, and new players are popping out left and right... (that reminds me of that new Benz hatch that screams Evo/STI but with an upmarket interior)

So it's either going to come late, early, or somewhere in between? Expert analysis.
so not that it matters cuz only time will tell but my theory is this is what the new evo will be
A slight veriation of the 2014 mirage Evo think recaros and short shifting on the interior add 150 hp to the 147 ish at the crank and put make it awd
how mits does that is tbd but im hoping its done on the 4 door sedan platform and not a hatch

Really? You're going to compare a FWD Ford to an AWD Mitsubishi? Maybe they're close on a dry, well-prepped track but let's be real. It rains, snows, and there are lots of friction reducers on roads in real life.
Don't even get me started on Ford dependability.
