New track times... I still SUCK

Well.. I got the car tuned a little better (Not too much) and now it makes plenty of power to get a mid eleven I am sure at 26psi or so. I pass the traps while bouncing off the rev limiter so every pass is either a 117.8-118.8 or there abouts. The crappy thing is my launching is not too great... 1.8-1.9 60' and I still can't seem to shift it fast enough. I run relatively consistant 12.3's.

I am figuring if I can get a decent launch of 1.6-1.7 and shift it faster I will be able to get somewhere around an 11.6-11.7 with the same power.. maybe faster with a way to not bounce off the limiter. Ill keep practicing I guess

I mixed 50/50 with 110 and 93 at 25-26 pounds.

Yes GT35r and all supporting mods (Intake, cams, exhaust, etc...)

And yes... the tuning is still not good at all. I am just now learning how to tune timing I can tell I am making more and more power everytime I make adjustments to the timing because i hit the rev limiter earlier

I also did want to ask how do people trapping over 118 get there??? Do you shift to 5th? What RPM do you get out of 4th at or do you just rev it to 8k or higher??

8000-8100 in 4th will get you 123-125 trap speeds..... thats why i am saying mph seemed low for anywhere near that setup or redline cause you said you were bouncing the rev limiter at 118 or 119 right

Yes the rev limiter is at 7750 and hits just before it from my logs and bounces the RPM's from 7.5-7.7 and it is at 118ish I am afraid to raise the limiter any more without springs.

RPM, 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th

7500 41.1 61.7 85.4 116.9 167.2
7750 42.5 63.8 88.2 120.8 172.8
8000 43.8 65.8 91.1 124.7 178.3

So yes you are correct. I just dont know how much that would really help my times anyway.. obviously I am doing something horribly wrong to get my crappy ET's with that trap.

I can give pointers if you show me the timeslip details. I don't need a scan, but rather the breakdown of each timing point along with 1/8th-mile mph. Your 60' isn't good, but you should still get better than 12.3, so I think there is a shifting problem, too. I know if I can hit 12.2 on a 1.7, you can hit an 11.9 with a 1.9.

This was my "best" run of the day:

1.806 60'
5.287 330
8.107 1/8
87.31 MPH
10.461 1000
12.386 1/4
118.20 MPH

I know my ****ing is really slow and for some reason I bog it between shifts also pretty badly. I also need to figure out a strange stutter type thing happening in 4th.. It may be slightly fouled plugs or something.. not sure yet. Hopefully it isn't some strange compressor surge type crap I dont know yet. I think my biggest problem on this run was the shifting and bog between shifts. But at least this is the info.

Im guessing because of the slow 1/8th mph I am losing alot of the time in the beginning of the track (1st to second shift mainly I assume). Well let me know what ya think

I had three other runs very very similair to these and they are all about the same.. plus or minus a few MPH in the 1/8th and .1 difference in the 60' but generally pretty damn close. I also do have a few crap runs like a 13.2 @115

Ok, well, you kinda exaggerated on the 60' being so bad. 1.80 is FINE and is good for deep 11s, not just 11.9, but something is definitely wrong in the 1-2/2-3 shifts. For comparison of the 1/8th-mile, in my MR, I ran 87-88mph in 10 straight runs with times ranging from 7.80-7.95. I think 87.3 was probably near my worst mph in the 1/8th, and you are anywhere from .2-.3s off my pace already. You then go on to BLOW ME AWAY in the back half showing that you have a LOT more hp, so it's all in those early shifts. What is causing a bog between shifts? I know your turbo doesn't spool until high rpm, but when I shift, I'm already at 5600 in the next gear, so what are your shift points in 1/2/3? Also, what BOV do you have? From other comments you've made, I am pretty sure you don't have a VTA-type, so that probably isn't the problem.

its all in the shifts and boost response of the turbo (need to flat shift it without letting off) also you do have big power as you gained over 30mph in the back half

Well... I think I should be able to pull off 1.7's or even a high 1.6 with nothing else.. i have never set my tire pressure which someone told me may help by lowering it down a bit. Its around 34 in the front and 32 in the back for those runs. The car bogs badly between shifts and i havent figured out why. It is recirculated from an HKS SSQ BOV. I am flat shifting also using a fuel cut off at 5900. I am thinking I might need to slip the clutch slightly between shifts.. I think the clutch is screwy.. I may have warped it. It is an ACT 2900 and acts wierd on hard shifts.. I shift it hard and it sits for a few seconds before it seems to slam into the gear. Those are my guesses.

I also have no idea on the power it makes. My best guess is around the 450 mark which isnt too bad for my own retarded tuning attempts and only 25 psi. The car does get squirrly in 1st every once and a while on the track and only god himself would have the ***** to floor it in any gear from 1st to 4th in the rain.
