1/8 Mile Runs

FINALLY got to the track.. its been 3 years.. I'm a little disappointed with my times but most of my problem is at the 60ft I believe. Glad to say I spanked every srt4 out tonight Hell I won 10 out of 10 passes.

Best ET & Trap same run. 93 pump, 19.5psi. Hasn't been tuned since cams.. I've done minor adjustments with safc, 0 prep.

1.81
5.32
8.21
85.58mph

What do you guys think? I'm really hoping to get into the high 7's.. Possible with just driving improvements?

Ok I still can't sleep

Could anyone guess what my car would in the 1/4 run with the numbers above?

Also if anyone has any advice I'm up for it..

I'm really not sure what RPM I was launching at... I'd say 4500-5500 with a quick slip. (having issues watching the tree and rpm) I had traction issues earlier in my earlier runs due to homo's backing their fwd's in the water and leaving it all over the place.

I was having one problem at the staging lights.. After I would stage the car starts to roll.. so I had to tap the brakes then get the r's back up in time to launch. I really feel I should be hitting some high 7's with my mods.

Drop that 60ft a little and you can possibly get some 7s

Is everyone staying in 3rd for the 8th? I max out 3rd right before/at the finish line.

nice runs, 7's should be reachable with a little better 60 ft time.

by the way, what are your mods?

BR 3" TBE with cat&magnaflow
BR IC w/lower pipe
MBC @ 19.5psi
264/264 cams
Works drop in filter
HKS DLI II
Walbro 255
Exedy Twin
Pump 93 gas

Thats the main stuff anyhow. I'm running a mail in dynoflash with minor adjustments on the safc2. I can't seem to run much more boost when its hot out without some minor knocking. I'm going to try colder plugs and see what happens.

Stuff I'm adding by the end of the month:

testpipe
TME 6.5 turbo
upper ic pipe

Hoping to get a couple more runs in before the turbo install with some colder plugs / higher boost. Also I need to try some race gas. I run 24 tapering to 21 on gt100 and the car is a monster.

1st thing you need to do is tune it with the cams. If you have an S-AFC, then what's holding you back? Get'r done!

Not bad on the 60'. Just try to get it into the mid-to-low 1.7s. The mph is decent. 8.0s at 86 for me on pump gas were good for 12.64 at 107-108 in the 1/4. Getting 7s in the 1/8th will take more than a 60' improvement, though. I'm running 7.8-7.9 on a regular basis, but that's only with a race gas mix. If you race on the GT100, you should easily hit 7.9x with a decent launch.

Another thing, though, is that I wouldn't rely on an 1/8th-mile track for numbers. You should find a real 1/4-mile track to use, because that whole 3rd/4th gear thing is weird. I have no idea where exactly I shift to 4th, but I know that there's no way I hit 88.7mph in 3rd, so I must be shifting to 4th well before the 1/8th. When I go to the local 1/8th-mile track, though, I run out of gear (6spd) right at 84mph, but shifting to 4th never helps...I get even lower mph, so it's kinda weird.

Your running pretty much what I ran a while back. I have 3" tbe, intake, 264's, Walbro, custom reflash, and running about 20 psi on 93 oct. I know if I was to cut a better 60 ft. I would've been in the 7's so you shouldn't have any problem with a slightly higher mph and a better 60ft. I was also on my 18's when I ran these times.

Yeah you're absolutely right about the launching. I used to get really nervous at the tree in other cars but with the evo all i'm thinking about is the car/lights. I think with 1 more trip to the track I should be cutting 1.7's pretty easily.

I was pushing 3rd pretty far to make it over the finish line. I'm not sure exactly what rpm but I'm guessing around 7400-7500.

I've tuned with my safc2 some just to get the AFR looking good. I'm running in the low 11's with 11.1 at redline. I do have some issues with the whole coolant enrichment thing.. I'll notice 10.8 AFR when she's hot. Race gas normally takes care of this and i run high 11 afr on 100 octane.

I also have the mail in flash. I'm sure there are some timing adjustments that aren't helping my new mods.. but I'm not really sure. A custom flash is loooooong overdue and I bet I could shave off .1 at least with one.

Another thing at the end of this month I'll be installing a TME turbo After that the next thing on my agenda is a custom tune. Hopefully there will be enough time left this season to get some nice numbers down
