Whats the highest trap speed you have seen with stock turbo?

Just wondering what it is. And wondering what cams this was done with. Im looking into getting cams, and want to know if the bigger cams (272's and 280's) really make a difference at the drag strip. Ive been told that bigger isnt always better, and no she wasnt just trying to be nice

your a badass, you drive my two favorite cars. I want to add an 04 cobra to my drive way. Also your trap is the same as mine with those mods. You must be driving pretty good. The best ive seen with 272s and all the bolt ons is 117. My friend has trapped 115.5 with 272s, br exhaust, 650cc fic, walbro, safc, bc, 110octane 12.2afr. Im hoping to hit 116trap on 264s the next time at the track.

How do you like the 264's? If you were to do it again would you go bigger?

and my 112 mph is with c12 and 23psi.

You should look into the cobra if you like the strip. With just basic bolt ons and drag radials it has gone 11.20's at 126mph and with a 60 shot of the juice it has ran 133mph. All with the stock long block and blower

Hey would you mind comparing safc settings with me Your moving for stock boost. I have the buschur stage 1 settings in mine. And when I go to the track I just add race gas and up the boost from 19 to 23. Could I also be gaining something by leaning out the safc some more on the race gas? Or is that kind of what im doing by turning up the boost?

I was thinking about trying different settings while at the track, but I dont have any type of datalogger to see if its pulling timing or not. I was thinking that if I could see the timing I could just keep pulling fuel until it started retarding the timing. I guess I would also need to see what the afr is doing.

thanks

Sean

Low boost I went 12.3 @110.32 (crappy shifts). New tires are being put on so I can run a high boost run without spinning the bald tires completely through first gear.

I think you should be proud of your times and speed. 12.2@112 is no joke.
I personally use the HKS 264/264, I love them, there is absolutely no problems with iddle or any kind.

I did a lot of research and found that the 264/264 were very responsive. If you are rolling at low speeds at any gear and want fast response the 264's are great.

I have seen a lot of dynos and it seens like the EVO engine drops power above 6500-7000 rpm , for that reason I prefered the 264's.

Al's personal recomendation for Cams is 264/264 as well.

But a good example of efficiency is whiteevo311 running 11.9@114mph with his 264's

My setting on race gas are pretty much 4500-6000 -18% and from 6000-7000 -21% and from there to 8000 -23%. Granted Im running a walbro pump and that made a big differnce. Im tuning with a wideband and my afr's are anywhere from 11.8-12.2 across the board on 110 octane.
my question to you is are you talking 23psi at 7000 or are you talking about spiking that high and falling lower towards redline. Seems like no matter how high I turn my bc up I always fall to roughly 19-20psi at 7000rpms and thats running through the gears. if I load it up in say 3rd gear it will hold like 27psi for a while and then fall. sounds weird but I want it to do that when Im flying through the gears.

regarding the cams I love them and Im glad I chose them. I think Im happy with the overall performance of the 264s and if I had to do it again I would probably go with a 272 intake cam. I might try it just to see if I do pick up any trap. I have two friends with similar mods, one has 272s and the other 280s. Im faster on the street when we do a role on than both of them. But on the track we all run similar numbers. Crazy.

I also have a greddy bov so maybe that helps hold the boost? But I can set it to hold 23 psi to redline. it will spike to 25 or 26 and then fall to 23 and hold steady. When you added the fuel pump did that make the car run richer? And how much do you change your settings for pump gas?

thanks for the reply

The whole point of having the S-AFC is so that you can tune it yourself. There's no other reason to get it, because it's inferior to a flash if you "set it and forget it." You have an s-afc specifically for the purpose of going to the track, tossing in race gas, upping the boost, and LEANING THE HELL OUT OF IT. I went from -15% at 7500 all the way to -30% from 5500-7500 when I threw in 116oct last time, and I was still in the low 11s with my AFR. I kept adjusting so slowly that I never got my AFRs optimum. You are probably only in the 10s and have even more power to gain, but don't do ANYTHING until you have a logging device...

Yeah your right, its time to get a logger. What is the cheapest way to see what the car is doing. I guess I would also need to get some type of wide band sensor? Yeah at 7500 mine is at -17. When you pull fuel it is also pulling timing isnt it? The afc just tricks the car into think its hotter out to lean it out? Maybe Im backwards on this.

thanks
