Went to the track....Stock 05 1/4

So I took the car out to the track last week for the first time ever. It is bone stock from the 93 octane to the paper filter and the stock exhaust tip. It even has the original oil in the car (about 3750 miles on it) I was taking it easy on the clutch because I knew even if I beat on it the clutch would slip before the tires.

But I digress here are the results;

--First run, straight onto the track from driving 2.5 hours there, first time drag racing an EVO...
60' - 2.06
1/8 - 8.57
MPH - 83.7
1/4 - 13.29
MPH - 106.2

-Best run of the night
60' - 1.95
1/8 - 8.43
MPH - 83.8
1/4 - 13.19
MPH - 105.7

-Dissapointing run of the night (missed 2nd gear, and it had to be on my best 60' )
60' - 1.88
1/8 - 8.9
MPH - 79.45
1/4 - 13.81
MPH - 102.9

Overall I am very impressed with the EVO, this is a great baseline for me to start with and the trap speed kicks ***.

That's the highest trap speed I've ever seen for a stock 05, especially on a terribly bogged launch and being someone's first time without knowing how to powershift or shift at the perfect rpm...

Yeah but a crappy launch nets higher traps then a great launch/60.

not necessarily...that really only applies to RWD/FWD cars where you spin so much that it causes you to get a slow 60ft time but you're going a lot faster thru the traps than you would with a better launch.

That is a ridiculous trap speed with a stock car...I ran similar traps with a Turboback, boost controller and reflash on my 05

I did first gear at 7500 and the rest at around 7250. I was also shifting faster at the track than I would consider "good" for the car, although not powershifting.

From inside the car it also didn't bog at all. It actually felt like it took off pretty damn fast, maybe I shifted into 2nd before the 60' mark

No way to get a 2.0 without either spinning like crazy the entire way (still unlikely), bogging heavily, or just tripping the light and sitting there for a few tenths (strange and difficult to do) before launching. There's no way you shifted to 2nd too early if you shifted at 7500. I shift right around 7000 and get 1.66-1.73 60's. Also, when I spin all the way through first, I still get 1.8x 60's. I've never hit a 2.0...

I really don't believe I shifted into second before the 60' marker hence the " "

I'd like to try for some lower 60' times, but I am afraid of burning the stock clutch out too fast or roasting the transfercase.

With my "launches" I got out of the hole quick against everyone I raced with little burning cluch smell after every launch. This is with the 5k limiter intact (obviously)

You won't hurt the transfer case on the stock clutch with the cluth restrictor still in place, but you can hurt the clutch. Unfortunately, in the attempt to be timid with the clutch, you are just burning the hell out of it anyway. Launching from 5k and below requires a lot of clutch slipping in order not to bog.

What I did was I staged the lights, waited for the opponent to stage the first light at which point I preloaded the clutch (pulled it out until I felt it wanting to pull the car forward) then pulled up the ebrake, preloaded the clutch another 1/2 Cm-1 Cm.

By this time the opponent was staged, I dipped into the throttle just enough to bounch slightly off of the 5k rev limiter, waited for the second yellow light, dumped the clutch and at the same time floored the car. It felt damn smooth from the inside although I don't have very much to compare it to.

Anyone else want to see slips before they believe it?
