Well luckily I save the mounts....The rear was a B...H to get in for an experienced mechanic on a lift.

The stock front mount had shown signs of tearing and needed to be changed for sure. The rear is still fine.

BTW the car only shakes at idle. While driving, things are much smoother.

the shakes will probably either get less noticed or actually die down after some mileage. i have an 80A front and a stock rear mount. i had let my ex drive the car around in an open parking lot while i watched from the outside and my car squats ALL the time with my blown struts. not just a little, but A LOT. like a reverse demon drop or something.

some nice adjustables could take care of this on the strip with the rears at full stiffness. on the course, you can focus more on tuning suspension as rotational forces from your engine and mounts are put into the ground and chassis. the jerkiness is going to happen since the energy isn't being absorbed into the crappy stock mounts. that energy is now being put on the chassis. so you kinda have to wonder whether you want flex in the mounts to lessen some squat and jerkiness or stiffen the mount and make sure you've got stiffer rear struts and bare the rawness. it's all a balance thing.

i can see what you're saying with the rear mount being a little far. with that rear mount being further away, that rotational energy is gonna be put somewhere else on the car if you stiffen it. whether its slight chassis flex or translation into the suspension you're gonna have to keep that in mind. a slight blip on the throttle in a turn might induce more oversteer now, or something like that.

Luckily I'm only looking to race in a straight line.

I'd need to upgrade the brakes too if I was doing any autocross or anything like that. That is where the suspension might also come in handy but 8-1200 for new suspension just isn't a mod I want to spend money on. I would rather put in some Highcomp pistons for that amount and just deal with the lack of traction.

Spyder...sorry to highjack your thread but I am hoping that this can help you out too.

Until track time then.

I keep forgetting to say everything. I'm on eibach springs going on 40K so the stock shocks might be going too and causing the bouncing I am experiencing.

I am on topic. He ran 15s with a turbo kit, which put him close to a stock DSM. Good job. I still haven't been given a reason why anyone in their right mind would get a base Lancer and then turbo it when you could get a much better car for less money and tons more potential. Is it because of the extra 2 doors? I can't think of any other reason.
Why did you waist 35k on a beefed up rental car to only go 12s, why didn't you spent 3k on a 80's Trans Am, Supercharge it and run 9s for less then 10k, maybe because you didn't want to? you wanted an Evo and you wanted to Mod it.
Don't act like an *** because ur just gonna end up looking like one.

oh yeah, drag racing forum

i've never looked it up, but i've read there are shims you can put on the rear springs to lessen or eliminate squat. if you do find some, make sure your track says it's okay to use 'em.

Well I barely had the new clutch broken in but I went to test out the mounts and clutch. The car digs in AWESOME now!!!!! There is no bouncing whatsoever but I think you have to adjust the way you launch the car. I used to feather the clutch and I think now it just burns the clutch as I could smell it pretty good after the first run. With all the grip I think you just have to dump it and go. The feeling is weird and really put me off but I had nearly the best 60 I've had with a 3.50. The first launch of the night I had a 2.415.

The rear mount still has some give. You can feel it during everyday driving but I bought a flex mount for the rear. I still think if I had to do it again I might for flex front and firm rear. The car is making enough power to still move the engine during regular driving but on the launch like I said it digs in good. No LEAN BACK.

They haven't been discussed in a long time so I think I will type up a new thread on them.

Oh I forgot to say I didn't break any of my previous records. I ran a 16.686 the first run and 16.499 the 3rd. I had a bad launch the 2nd run drying to baby the clutch and ran a 16.944 with a 2.6 60.
