Need help on my time

Just came back from the drag. I was only able to put together an "OK" run. Can you help me figurre out what was wrong? I want to get into that 11s so bad. Here is my last run with a good 60'. I noticed that between shift my car was lost boost and take a moment to receover. Why it is so hard to shift now. I used to shift better than this. I shifted at around 7800 rpm. Advises will be appreciate. Thanks.

California Speedway:

1.699 60'
5.084 330
7.938 1/8 at 86.30
1000 10.309
1/4 12.249 at 116.92

Notice that I gained 30 mph from 1/8 to 1/4.

Mods: RNRGT35r, 264/272, TBE, MBC at 28psi, Twin-Exedy, ECU+ for the tune, stock tires.

My other runs after this run were terrible, car was spinning left and right all the way, my tranmission is acting up but I'm not sure if it is the problem (loud clunk hear at launch and between shift). Can't shift into gear smoothly any more. Maybe time for TRE or John Sheppar rebuild. Thanks.

Go read some of TrinaBabe's old threads. She was dropping boost between shifts on her 35r, and was having a helluva time shifting, but she eventually figured it out and starting running 11.5s at 123 no problem, which is where you should be at least. It's obvious that you are losing lots of time between shifts, because your 1/8th mile ET/MPH are equal to my pump gas 1/8th et/mph on stock cams/turbo with a weaker 60' (1.77). That means you outlaunch me, then I pass you during the 1-2/2-3 shifts, but after you hit 4th, you blow by me due to outright HP. I have no idea what would make your shifting suffer, but any amount of slowness in the shift will kill your spool, which is critical on the 35r.

My best 1/8th ever is in my sig. Click on the 12.01, because that link shows 3 timeslips from the same night, 2 of which are my fastest ever...

Ok! I see that I need to work on my 1-2 shift to improve the 330 time (try cutting it below 5.0s), and then 2-3 shift to improve the 1/8 time (try cutting below 7.8s). I have a bad habit (more of psychological issue) of letting the gas all the way out before shifting due to affraid of tranny break down. I noticed that when I keep a little gas down on top when shift, the car got kick-in feeling from the back (like something hit your back). Is that bad for the trans? But I feel the car move quicker and not loosing boost that way. It's not easy to shift like that cleanly so.

If u want your car to hit 11s let me or Smoggy drive it and remove your Supersized happy meal(inside joke carlsbad days).btw My tranny was destroyed to the point of not being able to put it in reverse or 1st but 11s were still consistently doable. I took u for a ride during my 1+ days and showed u how u have to shift to run decent times. I know u told me u did not want to shift like that for abuse reasons but hey if u drag ur Evo the tranny and Diff are going to get f-up eventually. Shift it like u stole it is what I say. Smoggy quite possibly had a 12 flat or better at Carlsbad back in the 1+ days but he shifted like a pewssy and his 113mph traps were only good for 12.2 but my 110- 111 mph traps were good for 12.2 also. He enrolled in IE Maniac Shifting 101 and attained an A+ Grade on his final Exam when he busted an 11.9 at 115mph at Fontucky his first time out with his TME 1+ setup. Twan ur car made big power with TTs great tune. Only one variable holding ur car back from 11s. Can u guess what that variable is? Go out and represent for the Evo community and drive it like u stole it. OUT!

I just saw this 60ft. Man I believe my best 60 with my bigger turbo was a 1.74 on my 100 oct map resulted in 11.7 at 120 mph. My 11.6 runs with the more aggressive tune were with 1.8 60 fts. Twan with ur 60ft and power level mid 11s at 124 mph should of happened IMO. Put our talents together{ u launch and i will shift }that way 11s will be easy.

Tuan,
You definitely don't need help on your launching. 1.6 is fantastic for you setup. IE learned super quick shifting thanks to many years stroking with his rosey palm.

set your rev limiter to 8300 ( i use 8500) , set your clutch switch limiter to 6800 and use that for launching as well as flat shifting (where you don't let off) , there are other ways to actually set it up to build positive pressure in between shifts and at launch (antilag) but you will blow your car up if not careful since it will build like 50 pounds of boost ASAP. Also, i am assuming your running race gas , get your 60fts into the low 1.6s and flat shifting and you should be way better...but yeah the driver mod is priceless to keep the gt35r on boil.

Thanks for all your helpand suggestion. IE and Smog, yeah I missed those old days at Carldbad. It's where my stock clutch gone and I had to limp home from San Diego to Los Angeles and got beat by Sentra, SUV, Corrolla... due to the clutch only hold up to 45mph.

I guess because of my grandy slow shifting that my tranny and engine are still intact after all these times. Yes! I been practicing the launch with the GT35r and Exedy-twin recently and getting used to them for the good 60'. But I don't have room to practice the quick-shifting at high RPM so the only place is at the drag strip which I'm still suck.

I will try to do suggestions from all of you. Thanks.
