375WHP and 490WTQ

Sorry for this question, but I'm kind of thumped on this.

Ok say for example an EVO made 375WHP and 375WTQ on a Dyno Jet and in theory with a very good driver and a good strip, it should be able to run a 11.7-11.9@115-117MPH.

Now I have asked this torque question before, but never have I seen the difference as dramatic as the EVO IX tuned at Pruven Motorsports recently. So my question is how much of difference would an EVO see in the 1/4 mile with approx. 375WHP/490WTQ? I know that launching an AWD vehicle with so much torque would be difficult, but if the owner figured it out what would the times and trap speeds be? What would be the best technique for he or she to launch such an EVO with so much torque?

It might go slightly faster, but it would need to be short shifted. You still need to do the math to find ideal shift points, then compare the area under the curve for the rpm range the engine will rev through that you found my doing the "ideal shift point math".

the other issue is that once in 4th gear, if your going to be doing 7500+rpm to run 117+mph traps. This is way out of the range where this motor has a power advntage. This would definatly hurt the torque advatage becuse your forced to run the engine higher.

Interesting, so the torque doesn't make to much of a difference in the 1/4 Mile?

Sorry about the million and one questions, but what would happend if this EVO IX-

met up with this EVO IX-

and they went from a roll, obviously I know the torque monster should win, but how much of a difference? Would it be pretty ugly?

The lower tq car may have a chance. The high tq car could spin...I know it is AWD and all...Buttt....That is a lot of tq. Just think that may hinder the higher tq one.

Good answer.

I'd be suprised to see the higher torque car win by much in a drag race, but on the street it would feel a lot faster and from a low rpm roll its over...

Both cars have around 375wtq at 5k rpm which is on the low side of the powerband
