first time to the track

so last sat (jan 28th) i took the evo to the drag strip for the first time ever. First run... 1.77 60ft, 8.0 1/8, and a 12.5 1/4. Was very pleased since its my first time ever, and i knew i could improve.

However, second run... got the notorious ACT lock out in 3rd gear. Ran a 12.9 @ 104... But coming back around... 3rd gear starts grinding every shift.... i figure the 3rd gear synchro is gone... on a 2 month old tranny... super... so i've been driving around skippnig third... and i'm trying to decided what to do.

TRE vs. SHEP rebuild....
or
New TRE Tranny

Problem is the evo is my dd and i will have a hard time being out a car for 2-3 weeks if i send my tranny off.. Any suggestions are welcomed!!!

probably not after you've taken it to the track, but you might have to look into renting a cheap car while the evo is in the shop. that is what I would end up doing if that was me. You could try to get the work done under warranty at a dealer and maybe they have courtesy cars for you to use while they are working on it.

TRE is the way to go! If you call or email Jon and inform your situation, I think they will get out fast to you. I told them I needed it in 5 days and they did it! Great people to deal with also.

Before you spend any money be sure to readjust your clutch pedal, you can check it out at evomoto. http://www.evomoto.com/tech_info.php?tech_id=28

You should be able to get rid of the 3rd gear grind using this technique if not I would PM actman. Good luck.

thanks for the advice but i already tried that... adjusting a little driving around, adjusting more, until the clutch pedal was as high as it would go, still grinding... its the synchro..
