Gains with the EBAY O2 Housing?

Lots of hype about the ebay O2 these days. I was just wondering if anyone actually has hard data backing up its benefits.

Is there anyone here that added only the O2 and pulled a better timeslip?

Most people would also agree that you posted this in the wrong section, and that they have had a reoccuring problem with boost creep with this part.

Most? I only saw one or two people in that larger thread complain about it, and I thought it was due to the single flapper or cams perhaps?

I know two locals, a 9 mr and an 05 gsr that have them an no boost creep issues.

I wouldn't say this is the wrong forum. Where else would you find real world application of this part? Dyno's lie, timeslips dont.

If you added the part and found consistant quicker times or faster speeds thats something good to know.

If you added the part and saw no gains thats good to know as well.

It's too hard to measure on a part like this. You can have variations of 1-2mph or .1-.2s just based on the day, the weather, the track conditions, your gas, etc. A 10whp difference will only give you a .1s and 1mph increase, which is too small to give credit to a single part as opposed to a change in conditions. The dyno does not lie - if you do before and after and see consistent gains, then you know it made a difference.

I'm not going to argue with you guys, but i have seen boost creep with this part, and this is definatly the wrong section to post this in; period.

Edit: I have also seen good things come of the 02 housing, i just cant justify the purchase and risk for so little power.

+1

Unless you were able to do back to back runs with and without the new part then it's not very accurate. Too many variations. Weather conditions, driver condition (fatigue), vehicle condition...etc.

Nothing better than a A to B comparison on the dyno. It's sometimes difficult to compare track times to dyno numbers. For example a motor mount should improve shifting and your track times, but would show little to no gain on dyno numbers.

I have it on my car and i felt a top end difference after the install. I used to have boost creeps issues but they have been fixed, it was caused by too much wga preload

Another moderator. Sweet!

And how is it risky? Just adjust the WGA about half a turn and you're good to go!

Plus in addition to a bit more power, your lack of lag should be very noticeable, at least when combined with a ported turbine housing and mani.

I'm not sure about this lack of lag talk. I didn't dyno but I did switch from 10.5HS and stock O2 to 10.5HS and ebay O2. Other than higher boost during high load WOT performance I noticed no difference.

The difference at the track should be more noticable than .1/1mph. While drag racing you are at higher RPMs were prior to the ebay o2 boost would have been dropping off. Now with the O2 boost holds steady or can get higher this should be very noticable on race gas.

If I couldn't hold 17PSI at redline on race gas before and now I can easily push 24PSI at redline this should make a very noticable difference UNLESS its not really helping and all I'm getting is more heat/boost.

Well, Jeff, that's not normal. I don't see any way you can sustain 24psi at redline, and I don't see why before you could only sustain 17psi. Neither of those make sense. I held the same boost at redline before and after the o2 - it makes no difference. And if you only gain 10whp peak, then you're not going to see more than a .1s/1mph gain - most likely less. What you're describing would require a much larger than 10whp gain up above 6000rpm, which just isn't normal.

I concur that spoolup isn't really improved either. I hit full boost at 3800rpm on the dyno after my o2 and ported manifold - no noticable gain in spool.

I put on an ebay 02 and picked up nothing at the strip. Ran the exact same time and trapped the same.

I didnt even feel any power difference with my eBay o2 housing. Prob just as much power as my ARC box made... with 100x the hassle.
