Really disappointed in my times

well I finally got my Evo IX to the track . Temp was 83 and humidity was 100. well first time I tried the launch from 5k. It seem like I got a good launch. car didn't bog. So I'm off then the rpm start going up and the car felt like it was in quicksand through the first 3 gears. felt like all four tires were spining, But I was hardly moving. Then this smell, I will assume it the clutch. Anyways, I don't understand what I did wrong , It got of the line nice, so I thought anyway. My time tell the story. Is this what happen when the clutch slips? I'm lost. Here are my times. I'm so disappointed! the second launch was from 3500k. what does it mean to slip the clutch? I mean I didn't dump the clutch on both starts. What did I do wrong. it late so please forgive my spelling.

first run
R/T.... .319
60'.... 2.275
330'..... 6.894
1/8..... 10.274
mph.... 75.25
1000.... 13.071
1/4..... 15.398
mph....97.77

second run

R/T.... .480
60'.... 2.282
330'....6.206
1/8..... 9.360
mph.... 78.50
1000..... 12.063
1/4..... 14.331
mph.... 99.85

You need to practice bringing down those 60' times..2.2 is horrible. 1.6/1.7 is what you should aim at. Play with tire pressure and what RPM you launch at...

Also the temps are pretty high, humidity is thick..and try launching at 5.5k (remove the clutch restrictor so you can)

ps. the time you thought you were spinning, was most likely you laying on the clutch for too long.

deng dude, what rpm are you shifting at? usually 5k is a good rpm to launch at cuz you're in boost while launching... maybe a little more practice of slipping the clutch and shifting better will help, that's how i got better at driving my car at the track...

from your times and descriptions it sounds like your clutch isn't fully grabbing, like it's only 1/2 engaged. What seemed like a good launch to you was probably smooth feeling, but not really good. The thing is your 8th mile time is 1-1.5 seconds slower than it should be, even with only a .5 second bad launch. In other words the engine power isn't getting to the wheels, which would be clutch too...

It seems like you slipped the clutch too much, and were already driving before it could fully engage, and then it just didn't fully engage going into 2nd and maybe 3rd too. You really just need to practice, but the catch is if you're slipping too much repetitively, you're clutch will only last a couple more times.

you need to get that launch under 2 seconds definitely. 1.6-1.7 is a good goal. what rpm are you going to in the gears? you should be trapping higher than that. although the humidity was probably killing it.

You were burning the cluch - that's why you didn't bog and why your times were horrible in addition to your traps. You can't slip the clutch that much.

Btw, removing the clutch restrictor does not allow 5.5k rpm launches - you have to disconnect the 5k switch.
